Hello, so i noticed a small leak under car around the transmission. I took car to dealership and was quoted $9K to repair leak. i included there statement and break down of cost below. has anyone ran into a similar scenario? i would honestly rather sell the car then pay 9K for a leak.
Car is a 2014 S4 with 44,000 miles and automatic transmission.

If it's a rear main seal leak it shouldn't be red ......?

first off, confirm this is really the rear main seal and not your oild filter housing and/or it's gasket. second, find somebody who charges more reasonable labor, should be about 10-11 hrs if it's really your rear main seal.
P.S. is that really a quote for a rear main seal? It doesn't say anything about that, did they tell you that specifically or just offered a price to fix that leak?

If it's not warranty work, avoid the dealership at all costs. Find a trusted Audi/VW independent shop nearby and they'll take much better care of your car and at a cheaper price.

Even the $190 to look under the car and see a leak is insane.

And how red fluid is diagnosed as a rear main is beyond me???

Only red fluid in this car is coolant, I could be wrong though.

I’d do it for 2k lol

Though if you’re going that deep, do it all while it’s open like I did.

Sounds like it’s not oil leaking tho, I agree, get a second opinion!!!

My engine not to long ago…

My engine now… ready to go back in.

That’s a crackhead price. I was getting quotes closer to $1k in labor to do a clutch job including the rear main seal

That's call a fuck off price. They price it that way so you'll go someplace else because they don't want to be bothered.
Life has taught me never try to make something idiot proof, they'll simply come up with a better idiot.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
I have neither the time, nor the crayons to explain this to you properly.
