Advice needed- Potentially Selling my RS3

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Life is messy and my situation has changed, so I am considering selling my White 2019 RS3. I have only driven the car 2k miles (bought it CPO with 5.5k miles) but I have tastefully (IMHO) modified the car. I have a few questions on approach and hope to benefit from the forum's experience and advice:

    1. Do I sell my car with the mods or return it to stock?

    2. Are there suggested sites where cars like the RS3 attract enthusiasts (in addition to Audizine)?

    Thank you, for your thoughts.

    Installed Mods:

Integrated Engineering- Carbon Fiber Intake System

Integrated Engineering Diverter Valve Adapter Kit RS

    IE Turbo Inlet Pipe

    Unitronic Wastegate Line Upgrade

    Unitronic Intercooler

    Akrapovic/Audi Sport Titanium Exhaust

    O34 Catted Downpipe

    Low-Profile Audi Rear Headrests

NEUSPEED RSe102 Gunmetal (square set-up) with factory ceramic coating

    245/35ZR-19 MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 4S

Is it tuned? Buyers would be worried that the car is TD1 flagged and not covered by Audi's factory warranty so if you can prove that it is in some way that would go a long way.

I would try to take all the mods off and sell them individually and then sell the car as stock. But yes there are buyers looking for modded cars, just way way less. Most people want to do that stuff themselves.

With internet searches the way they are today you can put it on Autotrader and it will show up on autotempest. If you do choose to sell it modded you could try an Auction site like Carsandbids.com

Thanks. Yes, it is tuned by Unitronics

I've seen plenty of modified cars on Cars.com selling for the same high prices as stock. At least half of used rs3's are modified, that's just a base assumption. Also to buy this car and leave it stock is just leaving too much on the table so a smaller group does that

sell it modified imo. youll have to disclose its tuned, so the car basically has no powertrain warranty. Anyone interested in that is gonna want a modified car, might as well have the mods on it.

Yeah I agree sell it modded, if for whatever reason you have to dealer trade in, then take the easy stuff off like the intake/exhaust.

I would leave it the way it is and disclose its tuned. You have tasteful mods and the car should sell no problem for big bucks. White is also a desirable colour ... good luck with your sale

As someone who just bought an RS3 I'll tell you modified did not deter me at all. Especially since you have cats. I was looking for something that would be more fun to daily. Yeah you'll have to disclose it was tuned so it would probably void any warranty when a dealership hooked it up to a scan tool, but the mods are the same ones most people would do so you're good. Your mods would not have been a deterrence to me when shopping. Having cats is big because even though I live in an area with no emissions, on my daily I wanted cats to not have the gasoline smell when going on like client visits or just running to the store haha.

Thank you all for the helpful comments.

My preference is to sell the car as-built, not because of the hassle factor of removing the mods, but because the car dives awesome, looks amazing in White, and sounds incredible with the Akrapovic exhaust....so someone else should enjoy an adult-driven, tastefully, and professionally modded (O34 did all the work) rocket.

Any suggestions on where to post the car for sale? I am in NorCal.....are the sites that generate the right kind of enthusiast interest?

    Thanks, folks!

I am not sure of the weight....but it's a fraction of stock. I hand-carried the Akrapovic to O34 who installed it for me. It took two of us to load the OEM into the back of my truck.

Auction sites are really taking off right now. Carsandbids.com is the first that comes to mind. A modded rs3 sold there a month or so ago. Since it sounds like you have documented everything and kept receipts you could probably make a pretty enticing description of the vehicle/mods. Having semi-professional pictures taken goes a long way as well if you know someone with a nice camera. I think there are a bunch more of these types of sites starting up right now that you could also look into, but I think this one gets the most traffic for now.

Look at auto trader, the market for the RS3 is really hot right now. Sell privately and undercut dealers.

Post it on the Rs3 groups on fb. Lots of people constantly joining just looking for one. And I would sell the exhaust separately. You’re not going to get 5k more with it than you would without it. But someone will buy the exhaust separately

    I received you pm.
I am interested in the exhaust is you decide you want to swap that back to stock sport one.
But it sounds like you want to sell as a package.
I suggest checking out some of the audi facebook groups as well. Rs3 prices are high 50s maybe even low 60s depending mods and miles

Got it.....I misread your post. If I return the car to stock I am happy to sell you the exhaust. It would be an easy transaction.

Thanks for the facebook idea....not much of a FB guy....but will research.

My advice is do your homework before listing it for sale and dealing with buyers. The scammers will come out of the woodwork. Get copies of ID's, pics of license plates, no sob story/special circumstances or delivering the car. If you sell private, do everything with the transaction in a bank and only take cash. I've sold a car recently, so just be ready for it. You don't want to sign over the title and end up with a fraudulent transfer or check...long story, but it's not good. Gotta make sure they register it too, otherwise your registration is the last one that's valid on the car.

The last car I sold had a manual transmission and scammers would show up to look at it and not even know how to drive stick lol. They'll also park far away to avoid showing their license plates.
