Air leaking from upper brake pedal area

Hey Audizine I’m wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I have what seems to be a vacuum leak coming from my brake pedal area. I investigated and it seems that the rubber piece that connects to the brake pedal is leaking. Is this possible or am I just wrong. I was thinking the brake booster was leaking but I don’t fell a difference in brakes. Could it be a rubber grommet? Thanks y’all

Just a total guess but my old Audi 90 used vacuum for the cruise control switches. Not sure what they do these days though.

It’s a weird problem I’ve never seen on the forums before. I might just have to pull it apart and see what I can find lol

The brake booster is behind the pedal, and it is vacuum driven. But does the air flow feel it's being pulled out of the footwell or pushed into the footwell? Maybe it's just a crack in the grommet. Or an air flow from somewhere else.

The brake booster and the vacuum line to it are in the plenum chamber, under the fluid reservoir. On the passenger side of the firewall is just the brake pedal assembly.

You see the connection hole for the vacuum line in the third pic. The post that connects to the pedal motion is in the second pic. Two bolts go through the whole assembly, through the firewall, and into threads on the pedal bracket to secure the booster.

If you're feeling an airflow right there around the post, it's going to to be the booster boot; there's no seal or grommet between the booster and the pedal bracket (other than the metal square you see there in the pics).

This might help but it only occurs when I am not touching the brake pedal and increases with rpm. As soon as I apply and sort of pressure on the brake it stops. I think it’s vacuum not pressure and I believe it might be the boot

Wouldn’t be surprised if the brake booster is leaking. I’ve seen many booster leaks on all kinds of cars
