    Tips & Tricks: PCV Replacement

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
This isn't a full DIY simply because FCP Euro's DIY is pretty damn good. It would have been a shit ton of work to make a DIY video that would only be marginally more informative. So, knowing that, I decided to make a video that will fill in the blanks on some things that I think were very important that got left out of FCP Euro's PCV DIY which you can find in the link below:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOT5cIt_Btc

    Helpful Tools:

    -Mini Bit Ratchet: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000XYOUS6...p_mob_ap_share
-Hose Clamp Pliers & Hook Set: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085ZMXWXV...p_mob_ap_share

    Parts Needed:

-Replacement PCV, (x1), 06E103547AE, 06E103547T, 06E103547L, 06E103547AK ***You MUST Verify the correct PCV for your VIN. If you get an updated one to replace an older revision you need to get your ECU tune updated from Audi. If you are tuned by a major tuning company (IE, APR, 034, etc) contact them to make sure you have the up to date software for your new PCV***
-Upper Intake Manifold Gasket, (x6), 079129717D
-Bottom Intake Manifold Gasket, (x3), 079129717B
-Complete Fuel Injector Install Kit, (x3), 06E998907EKT
-Replacement Coolant Pipe (Comes with O-Ring), (x1), 06E121065M
--Coolant Pipe O-Ring (Needed if you are re-using your Coolant Pipe, not needed if you buy replacement pipe), (x1), N90316801
-PCV Valve Hose (comes with o-rings), (x1), 06E103213
-Crankcase Breather Hose, (x1), 06E103207AP ***Replace this part! Don't be stubborn like me. My valve is stuck open and still causing a pcv soft code, so I have to open it back up to replace this part***

    Noteworthy Information:
-If you haven't done this before, lay out a big area that you can put your screws and other parts you remove on, but put a piece of masking tape under them. On the tape label where the piece came from, what size the piece is (for bolts/nuts/screws etc), and how many there are. This will be very helpful when it comes to putting things back together.
-Make sure you have coolant since you will be draining yours to do the job
-This is a good time to swap your thermostat, water pump, temp sensor, and do a valve cleaning if you have the time/capability.
-Having some extended torx bits will be very helpful as well
-The coolant pipe that lays across the top of the pcv is difficult to remove from the thermostat housing. The best way is to unscrew the T30 in the back, push the metal flange towards the rear of the engine bay, and then push the rear part of the pipe towards the drivers side of the car. This should allow it to pop out of the thermostat easily. If it isn't damaged, you can just replace the o-ring on the pipe, and leave the rear piece connected to the car, and push it out of the way.

Where were you two years ago? Hahah.. Excellent tips. One of the harder part for me was getting the breather tube off. I think there is a specify way to pinch it so that it unlatch. Took me a while to take it off without destroying it.

    Thank you!

The one connected to the valve cover? Or the breather tube that goes from the pcv to the sc?

The one that connects to the valve cover. Also, did you solve your recent PCV error code? I'm getting the same error, but it doesn't seem to affect performance. No oil burning.

All signs are pointing to a bad pcv breather tube/check valve. Going to open it up and replace it & keep my fingers crossed

Great write up and excellent point on the one below:

I replaced mine some time ago as well and didn't address this pipe at the time as nobody was recommending it.
I am now also stuck with a soft code.

I'm ordering the replacement today so I'll update you if it fixes the soft code

Update: Replacing the breather hose with the check valve did get rid of my soft code. Sill burning oil though :(

Thanks for the feedback. I will order the tube as well as I don't think i will be successful in cleaning that check valve.

I am also burning a bit of oil but I still have a VC gasket leak that was likely caused by excess crankcase pressure when my PCV failed.

What code did this cause? I think I may have a bad part from stock. I have 2 at the moment: P052E00 and P200400, I suspect the former is causing the latter.

    Hello Audi enthusiasts,

I hope I'm posting this in the right forum, and I'm seeking guidance on a recent DIY project I undertook involving the PCV replacement on my 2014 A6 3.0 Premium Plus, with VIN: WAUFGAFC4FN016353.

A few months back, I decided to tackle the PCV replacement myself. While I focused diligently on the replacement process, I overlooked the distinction between low and high-pressure PCV models and the potential implications for ECU tuning.

Initially, my car's oil consumption wasn't significant, approximately a quart every 7000 miles, which I deemed acceptable. However, given the age of the vehicle (10 years), I opted to replace the PCV (new PCV part number: 06E103547AK) including new Crankcase Breather Hose.

Since the replacement, I've observed a worsened oil consumption rate, along with a rough idle—something I hadn't experienced previously. Unfortunately, I neglected to note down the part number of the old PCV.

I'm now seeking assistance in determining whether an ECU tune is necessary and how I can ascertain this. Any insights or guidance you can provide, or if you can point me in the right direction or to a relevant forum, would be greatly appreciated.

For reference, I have VCDS and ODIS (VAS5054A interface) at my disposal.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

    Warm regards,
    Valqe
