C7.5 4.0T X-Pipe?

Recently traded in our C7 S6 for a C7.5 with sport exhaust. After searching exhaust, it looks like I want start by trying to delete the suitcase with an X-pipe and probably delete the 2 resonators too. Our C7 was stage 2 with catless downpipes and full exhaust and we’re looking to start out a little more tame with this one.

So, wondering if it matters where to get the X-pipe? Looking around, they seem to vary in price quite a bit. Seeing if there is a proven favorite here on the forum or what to look for.

Looking at the ECS one, isn’t that actually an H-Pipe?

No, it is an x-pipe. A "H" pipe would be two separate pipes connected by an individual third pipe.

I just ordered the ECS about an hour ago, says it'll ship Friday, wonder how long it'll take to get to GA.

Samsonite, did you order it? It is an X, not H, and I ordered it because it looks to be the cleanest and priced well. Couple weeks ago I bought the Magnaflow 2.25" X Pipe section for 100 bucks and was going to go to a shop to have it cut and welded in, changed my mind because I knew it wouldn't clean but would be cheaper than the ECS.

Mostly changed my mind because when I install the ECS version I'm not cutting into my OEM system (as it was intended) as I'm just going to remove the rest of it, then take it to the exhaust shop to mendral on some pipes continuing from the ECS section as I intend to delete my rear mufflers too.

I recently installed the ECS one onto my '13 S7. Honestly, pretty disappointed with it. It is barely louder than stock on cold start and doesn't provide any real growl under load.

Hopefully I can get that same growling from the Champ.
With the suitecase delete, aka H pipe instead of X.

I have the sport exhaust which sounds shitty..

I went with the Magnaflow X pipe . Significant difference over stock and it screams in dynamic.

Do you have the OEM S7 sport exhaust? I learned that there is a difference between the non-sport and sport exhaust and doing the X-Pipe swap for suitcase muffler made a difference. My neighbor has a S6 with sport exhaust and his does growl a bit more, prior to swap, his exhaust is already louder than mine and that is because I do not have the sport exhaust on my S7.

I personally am deleting the suitcase with this ECS conversion and deleting the rear mufflers, I heard a S6 with this scenario setup (xpipe swap and no rear mufflers) and sounds great!

I recently had an Amazon X pipe installed in place of my main suitcase muffler on my 18 S6 with sport exhaust. The result, in my opinion, is just right. More noise than stock, and almost exotic sounding in sport mode when getting after it.

I have the suitcase muffler removed - straight through passage.





You NEED to have the valves forced open if you do this. A cheap plug in is available and an easy install.


I have the nice V8 sound and the turbos on demand.

the crackles are no longer though. they are moreso shotgun bangs.... for sure.

I have the pre-facelift (2013), so I just found out that it doesn't require having the forced valve open with suitcase muffler delete. They can function normally as stock. As both of the valves of the pre-facelift model are located behind the rear resonators never blocking the flow completely.

Just FYI, I got the ECS xpipe about a month ago and it's a substantial difference in sound. It actually sounds like a high end sports car, lol
I have a 2016 with sport exhaust.
It's a perfect amount of V8 growl that makes the car sound like it should from the factory.
I love the sound of a cold start and driving under bridges that much more.
It's very well built, easy install and costs less than $300.

Guys, who has a clip or review on the xpipe with nonsport exhaust? Theres so many posts with different reviews. I just want a tad more louder than stock but no drone or ricer sound. Im sure muffler delete would sound the best but its way too loud.

Sad, the first sound clip of the S6 4.0L Stock is still louder than my S7 4.0L Stock. My new ECS xpipe has been sitting in my garage all week, been stuck doing house work, and now I'm leaving town for a few weeks so maybe in July I can do my exhaust change.

I'm following your led on that ESC x pipe.

I received mines today hopefully after the 4th July I will get it installed by a exhaust shop.
Quality looks good as you know.

I also cut off my mufflers, due to car warmed up I don't have "cold start run/idle" but I have a couple rev's, I'll get a cold start tomorrow since I want one anyways.

Not sure, but doesn't look distorted to me. I forgot to get a warm rev just doing the ECS X-Pipe, sorry, so I don't have a video/sound of a before and after. I just did it all at once (ECS X install and straight out the rear with welded on dual/slanted/staggered tips.

Looks the same as others, but at 300 bucks shipped I think is a deal; it is basically on par for a mandrel bent exhaust with X-Weld section that a local exhaust shop would charge in my opinion but this way you can do it yourself at home and don't have to worry about transporting dirty/old section back home or landfill (or some shops may charge disposal fee).

Guys how is the sport exhaust and non sport exhaust is defined ? I’m not sure what I have. I know my exhaust is valved but really in dynamic mode now much of a change in the exhaust note.

2016 stage 1+ w/ sport exhaust. I went to my local muff shop and they pulled both res. and suitcase. He welded in a random X pipe and two straights for $300 out the door in two hours.
Nothing fancy! I get compliments all the time. Substantially louder but not too bad for me(late 50's). Allot of Tesla's with stupid license plates in my neighborhood so its my way of pushing back. My wife on the other hand does not appreciate it. She says it sounds like some kids Mustang;)
