Plug and play radio A4?

Hey I just got some amazing answers from members regarding a radio diagnosis. Thank you all.

I’m prob going to just end up replacing my factory radio with the same unit that’s already In there.

However, I was wondering from all the experts here, if there is a not expensive aftermarket head unit that does well with the Audi A4 B8. 2014. Meaning if I have to buy a radio regardless wants dot investigate the options. Lots of cheap aftermarket ones on eBay from China. Don’t want to spend 1,000 on an alpine as all I need is simple features. However Apple CarPlay would be nice :)

I guess the biggest obstacle is my novice install. So wondering if there is an easy install unit that someone has messed with .

A cheaper alternative would be on AliExperss for half the price if you really don't need the touchscreen (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001...37654c4ds6Tiil). If you don't have Audi symphony but rather an MMI unit. lmk and I can link one. They're about $240. I got mine for $190 on a black Friday sale last November

The problem with the RS NAV and add-on Car Play solutions is that they require a working head unit (at least). If your current Concert head unit is kaput, you're still looking at replacing that with a working unit (salvage or refurb). Still, I wonder if a Symphony head unit from a 2014+ offers any "upgrade" from your Concert (apart from the built-in CD changer, of limited utility these days).

That is the difference between the Concert and Symphony, single disc vs 6-disc changer. The rest of the unit is the same between them.

Really wish I had MMI. Just a blank plastic space underneath my shifter is not too nice looking. Also I got in a friends A4 and the clicking feedback from the MMI wheel when rotating... out of this world.

Wait, don't you have an allroad? or did it not come with the MMI package?

MMI navigation plus was for US 8K years a no-option for Premium and optional for Premium Plus. Standard on Prestige. Only MY16 was different, where it was optional for both Premium and Premium Plus. There was no Prestige for MY16. So plenty of 8K P and P+ without MMI out there I suspect.

And a not insignificant project to retrofit MMI 3G+ into a non-MMI platform. And given that AT&T's 3G data network is due to be sunset early next year, we can expect the (limited) functionality of the 3G system (Audi connect, Google destination searches, Google Earth map overlay) to stop working, too, unless a 4G replacement to the MMI data modem is found (not likely). Something to think about.
