Removing the Quattro front grille badge?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Does anyone know how to remove the Quattro badge from the front grille as pictured below? I just installed my intercooler about a week ago and had meant to check it out then. Sure enough it slipped my mind and back everything went.

Is there anyway to remove this without having to pull the bumper/grill? Trying to get some custom badging done with this guy in Spain so I’m trying to figure out how the factory one holds on to see if this will even work. 64213133861__CEEC5F07-DAC0-477E-A887-8AF436013BF5.jpg

The actual Quattro badge is held on by double-sided adhesive into a plastic clip on the grille. The plastic clip is a lot more painful to remove and you will probably break it in the process.

If you want to remove the Quattro badge and put on something else, you can using any debadge method on the Internet - some heat, adhesive remover, and a fishing line to slice through the tape and the badge will come off.

    My car for reference:

Great, thanks for the reply man that was really informative! He doesn’t have many options of attaching the badges. Would more make sense to attach with his methods on to an RS grille. So I may be out of luck anyways. I wanted to pull it and see if I can send him pictures of the way it was held on, but it sounds like I may be out of luck on this one

Ebay is like $10+ more. Be careful, there's knockoffs out there where the red rectangle does not have a silver border. I'd like one, but not for this price... well... maybe :) :)

    eBay.

There are sellers on there that come and go. At the time of that photo, I was able to get two authentic ones from a US seller for $25 - came with original stickers and bag. More recently, it has been tougher to come by as the sellers get knocked off eBay. I was more recently able to get one for $25.

Revisiting this because I might do what you did and add the Audi Sport one. I'll remove the quattro one with a heat gun etc like you mentioned.

Does it come with a peel and stick sort of adhesive on the back? All the websites I find it on make no mention of it. Quite expensive to get an OE one, but I will if I need to to make sure it stays on properly.

Best I could find was this same one:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/20309061155...53.m1438.l2649

I have lots of 3m tape so never really researched that portion, was about to do the same, but just can't pull the trigger on the $$$

There's also the more silver ones that IIRC aren't the "R8" one above.

I think the same guy has a black on black one, but imho doesn't look as good. Good luck!

20 bucks, good enough for me! So long as it fits on there correctly the 3m shouldn’t let go. I’ll prob order it. Thanks

Avoid this one. This is the fake one and it is very very poorly made. You will not be happy with this one. You can compare the quality between the two.

Welp in that case I guess I won’t get it lol.

Buy nice or buy twice, even the small stuff. It’s just a painful price point difference.

Did the original Quattro one come off easily enough? I’ll block off the grille with some stuff. Towels or something so I don’t melt the finish as well

It came off very easily, probably easier than debadging any of the other badges on the actual car since it's on plastic instead of metal. You won't melt anything, just go easy on the alcohol or Goo Gone if you're using that to remove the leftover adhesive. It doesn't have to be perfectly clean because the new badge will be an exact fit over the badge holder.

Did your oem badge have pins or something on it? Floss stopped about 1/4" in, like there's a pin or something in there. Certainly not like most badges. Did you use heat?

I'll probably break out the heat gun later and see what happens.

And I digress, it's flat under the badge, but the double sided tape is super strong. I used a little heat and pryed it off. Then used a little IPA to clean it. No tabs, just stuck on flat.

New one had tape already, so just stuck it on:
