    Resonator delete...help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm thinking of doing a res delete, my car is stock.
Some stories I've read on different forums suggest, just buy a cheap res delete pipe off ebay and get it fitted, others say go to a exhaust shop, tell them fit a pipe, others say get anti drone, then some people are saying anti drone either don't work and are a waste of money as a simple straight pipe does the job with no drone.....so many different answers!
What should I do,any info on res delete please would be very helpful.

Res delete is just for better sound..buy a set from ECS tuning made for S3 that is all you need. If you do get downpipe later...it will be annoying loud..but fine with factory downpipe

Ya reading too much forum nonsense...

Res delete simply removes the one muffler. However not sure about S3 Cabriolet...

Find another person in your part of the world(UK) who has the res delete. Preferebly on your same model of car!

    Hear what it sounds like.

Then find a shop or DIY it. If your skiddish about DIY'ing it take it to a shop!

I have the CTS Turbo res delete on my 2016 S3 (sedan). It was only $150 and well worth it in my opinion.

I can actually hear some exhaust noise, but there is more vibration and it does drone a little but not enough to bother me.

More vibration? That's the first I've heard. If anything, I would expect less vibration as you're actually "freeing" up the path a bit by removing that resonator.

I did a ECS Resonator delete on my 2014 S4 and then a year later went Catless. I had to add a Magnaflow crossflow resonator and two 14 inch front resonators as the stock front resonators were not enough tp quiet the car once the Catless test pipes were installed. I say go Catless and you will love the sound with the resonators on.

Here's the irony. The resonator is to prevent unwanted resonance - "Drone". Removing it makes it louder. Also, a "resonator delete" is simply a short section of pipe. Any muffler shop can do easily. Get a cheap ebay one, and and put it in yourself if you are a DYI type. Not hard. There's no such thing as a "anti-drone res delete".
