Updated MMI Firmware and Maps - Now Nav is blank

Hey guys, hope you're all well.

For the most part, I am a long time lurker here and over all, pretty inexperienced when it comes to car stuff. I recently paid off my 2013 Audi A6 2.0T PP and getting things fixed up and updated, etc...

Quick breakdown of what happened: I updated my MMI from HN+R_US_AU_P0609 to HN+R_US_AU_K0942_3 successfully. I then looked around online and found newer maps and updated from 5.7.3 to 6.20.1. MMI is fine but shortly after using nav, nav closed and nav version is blank...

I found the MMI firmware posted online (HN+R_US_AU_K0942_3) and was able to download it and put it on an SD card. Update went well and definitely seeing a bit of better speeds with the bluetooth module loading up a tad bit faster.

While at it, I figured I'd update my maps if I could find it online as well. I ended up finding 6.20.1 and was able to download that and throw it on an sd card. Update seemed to go well as well (this one took forever! lol) Once done, I opened the version information screen and confirmed that the version was updated. I open nav and it's up and running. At this point, I shut off my car for a few hours. The 6.20.1 maps I found for my car came with an activator which I threw on a different sd card but the nav never asked for it nor did it do anything when I put the activation sd card in the car. IDK if my issue is because it isn't activated? (or is it activated?)

Upon returning to my car, just to see what's different with maps, I open Nav and it's working when suddenly it closes and now in the version information screen, it is blank.

    I have attached some photos.
    1. My stock firmware and database version from when I purchased the car
    2. After updating firmware and maps
    3. A few hours after updating firmware and maps

I am unsure what happened and what I need to do. Do I need to reflash maps? I see there is a maps update for 8R0051884HG NAR 6.22.1 and another user is looking for people to group buy so i want to get in on that but for now, want to get nav working again.

Any info or help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no expert but I have updated my firmware and map database. One procedure you don't mention is rebooting the MMI after finishing loading the new map database. Turning the car off and on again does not do a software reboot. Different models/years use different key combinations; you can search threads for your specific car.

Just to update this thread, I've resolved the issue. I got the newer maps 6.22.1 and followed the guide to update (which includes the reset combo mentioned above.) All good now!

Now I need to find out what the best option for adding android auto is for my car.

I used Carplay on here, there's a thread about it. It was money well spent and works flawlessly (Android Auto) on my C7.5.

From what I've read, I will need to purchase some additional hardware and have it installed under the MMI dash (probably wrong term for it.)

    I have a 2013 A6 2.0T P+
