Just ordered a ttrs steering wheel, has anybody successfully fit this wheel to an Audi other than the ttrs with functional buttons?

I suspect the only other car with a steering electronics control module that is aware of those RS extras is the R8. I assume you're talking about the RS extras, not the standard multi function buttons like on all the wheels.

Yes that’s exactly what I’m talking about the start/stop button and the drive select

Let me know if you make it work. Interesting to see. Where did you order it from?

The satellite buttons set seems to come in four flavors:
drive select and start/stop - 8S0971589P for TT RS and 4S0951523D for R8
drive select and start/stop and race flag - 4S0951523G for R8
drive select and start/stop and race flag and exhaust mode - 4S0951523E for R8

It seems people have worked out retrofit solutions:
    https://neidfaktor.com/shop/lenkrad-...iante/?lang=en
    https://www.ambrace.eu/
Seems Alex at europrice.us might be a good contact for what's what.

    So been done, https://youtu.be/btOmzsDdKdI
But as typical with these youtube videos, they aren't there to help.
Better video by them, but just as useless - https://youtu.be/4phbqRrkRbo

Cars with the touch sensitive steering wheels (RS5 post-facelift with round wheel) will be out of luck on this one.

Post-facelift B9.5 models without touch sensitive steering wheels could be ready to go when the B9 setup is wrapped up. Hopefully Audi didn't change any of the commands/code for control of the systems involved with the satellite controls.

    Cheers,
I keep getting confused on this. On the AudiUSA website when you build the RS5, it says the "RS Driver Assistance Package" includes the "Hands on Detection Steering Wheel" but I did NOT build mine with that option. Doesn't that mean I can swap the wheel?

If your post-facelift RS5 comes with a flat-bottom steering wheel you do NOT have a touch sensitive steering wheel.

If your post-facelift RS5 comes with a heated round steering wheel you do have a touch sensitive steering wheel.

If you have a VIN I can likely check on what is factory fitted. Even Audi doesn't get it right by VIN amazingly and either lists 2 contradicting steering wheels or none at all. You email the VIN if you do have it here: [email protected]

Any update on this? I have a B9 RS5, would love start stop and drive select on the steering wheel in the original color/leather that my RS5 came with.

If you just want the 2 buttons added and no other changes to your steering wheel then this would be the cheapest option.
    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002551603269.html - ~ 120 EUR.
Takes around 2 hours to add them.

Drive select button works immediately after installing the cable and the start/stop works after installing a wireless module in the center console behind the original start / stop button.

The wireless module responsible with relaying the start / stop signal.

    Final result:

How is the quality of the switches? I assume they are not OEM.

They are not OEM - in one of them there is a radio module for the wireless module, in the drive select one if I'm not mistaken.

The quality is good to be honest. I've compared it with the OEM version and my OCD was not triggered.
They look nice and they feel nice.

The drive select button has a very nice click sound but the start stop is a 2 stage rubberized button in order to avoid accidental presses - you need to push a bit harder in order to trigger it and get the click sound.
Even if you press it during a drive the car will ask you to confirm with another press of the button.

I'm guessing Alex with provide a more complex solution in order to make the 2 extra buttons work (race and exhaust buttons) based on customer requests and will also make the installation as easy as possible.

    So I'm thinking:
    - there will be 2 LIN modules (one in the steering wheel and another somewhere else) that will communicate wirelessly - I'm not and expert but these are used to code the signal sent by the buttons as requested by the customer

    - Drive select will work as drive select (our B9 / B9.5 multifunction buttons have some empty connections behind where the extra buttons actually connect, so drive select is a plug and play actually)
    - Start/stop will work as start stop with some light blinking feature when you enter the car
    - Valve button can be used with CETE active valve for example or other function as requested by us
    - Race flag button can be used to deactivate ESP or home link
    - other multifunction buttons from the steering wheel can be coded differently than OEM - I saw even adding turn signal from steering wheel

I hope I don't spoil the surprise of Alex.
By the way Alex - can you please answer my PM?

    Thank you in advance.

    Yes...

R8, TTRS Steering Wheel Retrofit Packages <-Click Link for More Information

Finally finished testing the B9 pre-facelift application and all is working 100%. All multi-function controls work as well as all the satellite controls. The exhaust valve button works with the CETE valve control module to immediately open/close the valves by simulating a double tap of the ESP button. Wiring is minimal as the wheels are prepared here so it's essentially plug in. One harness and module is installed in the steering wheel itself and another is plugged into the console mounted buttons and the start button.

Packages are available in a variety of leather, stitching and satellite control configurations. Illumination does vary on the base steering wheel, TTRS has red illumination and the R8 has white illumination. Satellite controls also vary in illumination, two button red or white (tied to the base wheel type) and the four button only in white.

    These packages work with all pre-facelift A4, S4, RS4, A5, S5 and RS5 applications.

Modules and harnesses are en route to this location now for inventory and orders.

Perfection has a hefty price tag. I knew it would be pricier than the aliexpress solution, but I'm in a little bit of sticker shock. Are these all genuine audi parts that are included?

All of the items are genuine Audi minus the adapter harnesses and modules obviously. These are unfortunately the most expensive steering wheels that Audi sells without adding in an airbag or wanting to change the number of satellite controls plus then adding in disassembly, reassembly, preparation plus the adapting equipment needed to make all of this function.

Everything comes out working 100% as if it was factory installed and is seamless. It took quite a bit of development as well to get all of this done. The adapter modules all have hand written code and are flashed here per application. Harnesses are hand made to each application. Wiring is minimal for the B9 and the worst part of the install I found was getting the huge console trim up, recommend a set of trim tools for that part of it. Otherwise essentially plug in and go!

Would gladly pay that and more for something similar for post facelift. I did try putting the flat bottom that came on my brothers Ascari launch edition but couldnt get rid of airbag light. I remember when I had my RS4 Cab I changed to a flat bottom wheel and had to airbag wiring to get it right. I wonder if swapping the wiring on these two it would of worked?

For post-facelift models that have round wheels with the trapezoidal airbag there is a high chance the car has a touch sensitive wheel. This can be checked by VIN.

Post-facelift models with a flat-bottom wheel from the factory do not have touch sensitive wheels and likely can take these R8, TTRS steering wheel packages but this hasn't be tested yet. The multi-function controls are a bit different.

The only flat-bottom wheels that are touch sensitive now are the RS6/7 air leather and alcantara wheels. Those require a new airbag for fitment into a post-facelift B9 model.

If you currently have a post-facelift B9 model with a round steering wheel and trapezoidal airbag that is touch sensitive the RS6/7 touch sensitive steering wheel may work.

I personally have not tested this, but I don't theoretically see a problem fitting it besides the possibility of the multi-function controls not having functionality or 1-2 buttons not working such as the RS Mode, but it might with RS models that have that button on the stock wheel.

If you would like to through that fitment in more detail and price it out please email here: [email protected]

These are not add-on controls or anything of that nature, but a genuine R8 or TTRS steering wheel that is packaged with all needed components to work with a B9 model.

    Maybe someone is interested.
There is module a module that can make a TTRS / R8 steering wheel work on B9 cars.

Anything that can be done with the existing start/stop button? is there some kind of delete? like a cover or replace with another usb?

There appear to only be versions of the storage compartment with the start/stop button. Unlike B8 where keyless-go was an option and there were both with and without versions of the center console cover.

As for third-party substitutions to fit that mounting hole, no idea.
