    S4 Brake Kit Recommendations

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just bought a used 8.5 S4. I need to replace the rear brakes and rotors but figured I'd just do both front and rear. Does anyone have a kit that's the best "bang for your buck" suggestions? Been reading a few posts but the links are for parts that aren't available anymore. Also looks like ceramic is the way to go but open to others' experience.

    Thanks!

I’m planning on getting ebc red stuff pads with either Zimmerman or Meyle rotors. Total will be 450-470 for F/R.

What is cost on the power stop package?
Have you read reviews on power stop?

I would check out FCP if there isn't something specific you are looking for. Lifetime warranty means the next brake job is much less expensive.

I'm happy to recommend the Zimmerman rotors and Akebono Euro Ceramic pad kit from ECS.

Second the FCP suggestion if you plan on keeping the car long term for 50k+. EBC or Akebono's are good choices for pads, Zimmermann, Stoptech, or Myele are all fine if you are DD'ing the car only.

Then you can't go wrong with any of them, just comes down to your budget and choice of supplier. Slotted and cross drilled are really for show only, I personally had poor experience with a set of slotted Zimmermann in the past.

What was your experience with the rotors? I just went with akebono pads and drilled zimmermann rotors from FCP, purchased today. Cheaper than ECS btw.

I haven't put them on the car yet, but Akebono Euro Ceramics and Zimmerman solid rotors from FCP for me.

I had slotted ( not cross drilled ) fronts only, and they developed a lot of pedal chatter under hard braking after only about 10-15k from the slots, so I changed them out to solid and no problems ever after that. I've also used Akebonos exclusively for the last several years with good results. Yeah, I used to use ECS, but once I discovered FCP, I never looked back. As a matter of fact, I just returned an oil change to them today.
