Thanks everyone for all this helpful information. I searched, but could not find answer if this retrofit also works for a B9.5 S5 with a 360 camera.

Would someone please confirm if the connection in the left cubby (recommended by SHCKR) and the coding instructions would be the same for a B9.5?

You should be fine, it's just a control area network bus and ground, the 9.5 should have those in the same location

Installing this on an SQ5 and I'm wondering if it would be a better idea to just splice in the power connections the same way the CAN Hi/Lo wires are spliced in, using an extra set of those same pins & connectors, also to the J533 in order to keep all of the connections in one place.

I'm seeing on my diagram that Pin 54 is ground and Pin 18 is +12 always on (KL30), or should it be switched power from Pin 17?(KL15)

The better idea is to run the power and ground like the factory would. The sufficient idea might be to supply power and ground as you want. Running that lone power line to the left rear may or may not be worth the time depending on what all you have to deal with regarding trim panels and such.

The J502 is connected to term 30, not term 15. It is only a 5A fuse.

Thanks for clarifying. Unfortunately I don't have the service manuals for the B9 a4/a5, only the q, and since there was never an RSQ5 or other J502-equipped Q, I don't have any way of seeing a diagram that would show the factory wiring for it.

    looks like that trunk fuse box (the brown one) C6 is listed as power for the ACC sensors and TPMS for the RS5, C7 (used by the OP of this post) is listed as 2017-2018: Not Used; 2019-2020: Vehicle opening/start (NFC). So seems like C6 is the factory spot. For the Q, C5 2018: Not Used;
2019-2020: Rear Seat Entertainment preparation, C7 2018: Not Used; 2019-2020: Vehicle opening/start (NFC). C6 isn't listed at all, also a blank one. I'll check with the multimeter, I have a 2018 so c6,7,8 should all be available. Ideally I suppose I'll just add a fuse into the C6 location.

Yeah, the factory fuse slot for the J502 in the B9 is the SR2 (left rear) ST3 (16-slot brown) fuse 6. As you mention, there's no "factory" config of a J502 in a Q5. But the idea is more to have the J502 wired as the factory would wire it, with its own 5A fused term 30 power supply. Rather than piggyback off another device. But as to how much value is that really vs the work of getting that wire run (depending on where you're putting the J502), ....

That 16-slot brown is a complete bus bar version, so one supply wire connection, then all 16-slots are powered. You'd just need to add the device side wire with the ATM fuse terminal to the slot 6.

I would like to add the direct tpms to my '23 S5 but I do not have the skill set required. Has anyone had the direct tpms installed by an Audi dealer or an independent shop? What did it cost?

Doubt an audi dealer would install this. Independent shop might do it. I have local indy that charges by the hour for things like this. I supply the parts and they do do the labor. In your case a couple hours of labor would likely cover it.
When I did mine I was having some health issues and had mobile audio person install and I did the coding using VCDS. I've also used the mobile audio person to install rear backup cameras, front & rear dash cams on several cars.

I don’t think i’d trust anyone to install something like this unless they have a ton of experience doing these specific types of retrofits. If you want a thorough step by step, I did a q-specific writeup from the install i did last week. Just grab your service manual and follow it for the interior disassembly bits. otherwise you’re just paying someone to read the manual and do the same thing, and being charged by the hour.

I know this is the A5 forum, but have anyone tried to fit this into a facelifted A6/A7 C7. We are running pretty much the same hardware - MIB2 for inforntaiment, and the instrument cluster / can gateways are pretty simillar.

C7.5 is still MLB (B8/D4/C7), not MLBevo (4M/B9/D5/C8). The direct TPMS for MLB is a different system than for MLBevo. MLB version uses sensors at each wheel well, on the D4 (A8, S8) and C7 (RS6, RS7); not available on the B8.

7K3 is direct tpms, high system (position aware, presents individual pressures to driver), 433MHz. 7K4 is the same, but 315MHz frequency. I imagine you'd use the same as whatever your 5D_ PR code identifies as your regionally permitted frequency.

For anyone looking to replace sensors or potentially run a second set of wheels, I can confirm these will work with the kit that I bought in the original post. Sure there may be cheaper sets on AliExpress but I needed something sooner than the usual 2-4 weeks from Ali. No need to re-pair or reprogram - the sensors are picked up automatically (just store the new pressures).

I just did the TPMS Retrofit on my B9 S4 and i'm getting the same error message as you, read your post and I was feeling optimistic. So after tidying everything up I drove home, about 40 minutes and still same error the whole drive home. Only thing I didn't do was keep clearing the codes like like you did. Hopefully it works next time I start my car up, samething happened when I coded in Lane Keep Assist. Took a couple drives for it to start working.
