Thoughts on purchasing 2016 S3 with 70k miles?

I致e got my eye on a 2016 S3 with 70k miles on it, but I would love to have some second opinions on the idea.

Is this a car that you Audi experts thinks has the legs to go for 150k miles? I知 prepared to spend money on repairs, within reason, but what type of money can I expect to be spending (both in the near and long term)? Are there specific replacements I can expect needing to take care of?

I値l be putting on a pretty average ~12-13k per year miles.

    Is this a foolish idea?

If it helps I値l go ahead and give the listing here:

    Thanks in advance!

Biggest thing is the water pump. I have a 2016 S3 with a bunch of mods and I couldnt be happier with the car. Surprisingly great gas mileage. Make sure the haldex and transmission are serviced at that mileage.

As many have mentioned plan for a thermostat and waterpump replacement and since you'll have the intake off might as well get the carbon cleaning done.
I've hit a rough patch as after I had to get that work done I had to replace all corners due to dry rot on the tires though they were eventually due for replacement. Now I have a blown magride strut. So yeah not a happy camper - you should set aside about 3k per year for maintenance items. Cars in general will cost you outside the warranty period.

I've seen these cars on trader with over 130K on them so yeah they should be good for the distance.

    TL:DR.... Maybe!

#1 look at the tires. If the tires are cheap or bald, you know the owner didn't care about the car. If the car has brand new tires, check the brand and that can tell you A LOT about a person.
#2 look at the brakes. same thing. ask about when the brakes were last done. ask when the last service was. See if the person is knowledgeable or deceptive.
#3 look for aftermarket parts. these can be all over. cheap modifications to make the car look sportier are a no-go for me. In the car you linked I would check whether the front rings were replaced with black ones or plastidipped because those rings weren't part of the black optic pack from the factory (they do look very nice though). I'd ask for some pics of the engine bay...
#4 check the carfax. see if the car had service every 10k miles. See if the car had DSG service. At 70k it should have two I believe (one at 30k one at 60k. If its due for second DSG service that is bad.)

Mostly i ask and check these things to get a feel for how much the person knows about cars and how much they care. I don't know a whole lot, so if they know less than me it's bad. It's not about the cost to replace brakes, tires, do a dsg service, or remove aftermarket parts, but these can be a sign that the person generally didn't care for the car. You'd be amazed how many people don't let their coolant/oil get to operating temperature before redlining their engine. No real way to check that other than just get a feel of who the owner was.

Tires are a dead give away of the type of owner you're dealing with.

I tried to buy a M235 on Carvana a few weeks ago. They were usually sold before I could get a bid in. I just paid $23,450 for a much lower milage 2016 S3 locally. I would go local for a car like this.

I have that exact same spec. Love everything about it!

Reliability wise - I知 at 55k miles and had the Haldex Pump replaced. Otherwise, very solid car.

Your 1st point is something I never really thought about but makes complete sense.
