    Launch Control

Been reading conflicting posts on several forums about the existence of Launch Control on our c8 rs6, but repeatedly see videos (mostly european to be fair) indicating a Launch Control activation on the the screen (see Matt Watson’s latest race of C5/6/7/8 RS6).

Have read the manual and the left foot brake and right foot gas method seems to be for the S6. Has anyone in NA Played around with this and/or aware what the buttons sequence to activate LC?

The manual is such a poorly written piece of literature.

The way it comes from the factory; RS2 mode (click the RS button twice), brake pedal to the floor, gas pedal all the way to the floor (past the kick-down switch), and it'll hold RPM's to 4K and show a "Launch Control activated" message on the dash, let go, have fun, easy peasy.

    Thanks HurrayFive

First time doing LC with a non dual clutch transmission. Must be a bit nerve racking fighting the drive train with the brakes mashed down.

Sounds like fun tho. Looking forward to giving it a try

The car holds remarkably well in launch control. Doesn't fight the drive train at all.

just dynamic or set everything to sport in your configured rs1/2, ESC to sport (just one press on the traction control button) .. hold brake and then floor it .. wait a bit until it says launch control active .. let go .. have fun

Totally, IDK if it's just the massive brakes doing a good job or maybe some programming w/ the torque converter that takes over once LC is activated but it doesn't feel like it's building any power at all other than showing the boost gauge filling up and the RPM's holding steady at 4K, but as soon as you let off the brake it's off like a rocket.

It is very Porsche-like. I agree, it has to be more than just brakes.
The LC on a Trackhawk is an absolute joke compared to this. You're halfway thru the intersection

Ive babied the crap out of my car since day one but just recently crossed 1K miles. Maybe I should give this a whirl.

I have not felt the need tbh. Flooring it from a stop is generally more than sufficient. Might give the launch control a shot down in the sticks one of these weekends.

I did my standard 500 mile break-in that I've done w/ every HO DI vehicle over the last decade and then went to an empty back road in Mexico and gave it a go.

I've launched multiple S model Audi's in the same spot and this is my first RS but it was surprising to me how much more well composed a launch feels. Zero fuss, extremely poised, just takes off and never feels like it's straining itself at any point. I've only done a single launch so far but it felt like it could do it over and over again w/o issue. Def worth giving it a go!

I did my first LC launch last week. My god I was queasy for 30 minutes after. Hit SOOOO much harder than my RWS did. Amazing.

Has anyone found any difference in 0-60 performance with the traction control OFF versus in Sport mode?

I thought I would add to this instead of starting a new thread.
How is the durability of the transmission? Like how many times can you do a launch either in a row or total? In my GT3 I can do launch control over and over and not worry about a thing. But this trans has a torque converter so is that better or worse? I just crossed 1000 miles and had to give it a go. Wow. It's controlled for sure but that's an awesome experience! I dont plan on doing a bunch but I dont want to worry about it either. Thoughts and comments?

It's much faster feeling than just stepping in the pedal.

For sure. I just don't have a need to use it putzin around town. Been over a year since I did a launch control run...out in the sticks to show my nephew.

Is there an Audi equivalent to Porsche DME report or Lambo eGear snap report which not only shows over-revs (relevant to manual transmission) but also engine hours, and number of launch controls and other info? When I bought my Lambo, I requested the report to ensure no one had launched the car (it was a new car but had been used on some test drives). Any manual Porsche I’ve bought I’ve requested the DME report to check over-revs, and launch control along with other info.

I’m curious from the perspective of buying a used RS6. I’m not opposed to doing launch control to have the experience, but I might avoid a car that has a high number of launch control events. It may not be a dealbreaker for me, but it is a consideration.

I’m new to the Audi brand and not sure if this type of report is made available.
