How to remove fog light plastic cover?

    Hey guys,

I'm going to replace the fog halogen bulbs with LED lights.

First time removing the fog light cover on the car and it looks a bit different than my A4

I noticed a Philips screw on the top left and was wondering if this screw was holding in place the cover and had to me removed?

I also noticed a little hole on the bottom right which looks like is used to pull the cover

Are there any tabs around the edge I need to pray down?

Also last question, since the S5 has is equipped with LED light from the factory, how does canbus works on these cars?
On my A4 swapping halogen bulbs for LEDs would throw a bulb out an error message in the dashboard because the car is expecting 35W to be drawn by the bulb. TO fix this I had to install a load resistor to trick the computer into thinking that the bulb was drawing 35w

Will I also need resistors on the S5 for the fog lights?

    Thanks

Just an FYI that I changed my fog light bulbs without going through the front. I went in behind the fender liner and it was pretty simple that way.

I have taken my fog light grilles off once to replace them. I used a plastic pry tool and started on the inner vertical edges and once I got that started the rest popped off relatively easily. There are solid tabs behind the outer vertical edges that will break if you pull on those sides so always start from the inner edges.

Same here. Just turn the wheel as you get to each respective side so it's out of the way.

I find it easier to pull the grill off. It pops right off and you can see what you are doing. Harder to see via the wheel opening. Once you have the grill off three torx screws to remove the housing.

I recommend DeAuto leds. Seriously bright. No resistors required

Thanks for the heads up regarding the tabs that can break. This is exactly why I preferred not to force and ask first.
Appreciate it. I have a plastic pry tool so I will use that and follow your instructions.
Just to be safe, can you confirm I don't need to unscrew that screw in the top left corner to remove the cover?

    Thanks for your reply.
Just to clarify, when you say no resistors required, do you mean that even LEDs without built-in resistors will not throw a bulb out error message in the dashboard?

If yes, this is so good, on the A4 it was a pain to install resistors everywhere

No resistors with the deauto leds. I also had some CHEAP useless eBay leds that no resistors were required

I’ve had my front grills off 7-10 times. No tabs broken. No screws holding them on.

I pop them off with a key/knife. Go from the inside (towards center grille) first, bottom right corner right underneath the chrome strip. Very easy to remove - they come right off and snap back in the place.

Thanks guys for your help and tips.

Ended up going through the wheel opening, it was a breeze.

And as Nail F pointed out above, no resistors needed, not even built-in canbus/resistors.

    Thanks everyone!
