2016 Audi S7 Muffler Delete Help

    Hello everyone,

I’m new to the forums here but have been reading them for quite a few months. I just bought a 2016 Audi S7 and the exhaust sound just didn’t satisfy me especially considering it’s a V8. I’m pretty new to the car modding stuff as well and have very basic knowledge about muffler delete and resonator delete.

What’s the difference between a muffler delete and resonator delete? Which one should I get? Should I get both?
I went to a mechanic earlier and he told me that I need to buy exhaust tips first then he’ll do the muffler delete. Is that how it’s usually done? My main thing is I want more exhaust sound.

Looking forward to your guys help.

    - Tony

This has a lot about the various component delete options with sound clips.

I did res delete on my 2013 non sport exhaust, didn’t do much. Then deleted the mufflers and added performance resonators in their place as I don’t want stupid loud. If I were to do it again just cut out the mufflers. If you hate it try to snag a used exhaust down the road.

If you delete the mufflers, which essentially would delete the valves, you’ll need these simulators. If not, you’ll have soft DTC’s

Thanks for the response. I am planning to do just a muffler delete, but did you have to get exhaust tips when you did the muffler delete? Is it not possible to use the exhaust tips I currently have on?

Thanks for bringing that up, I had no idea. What affect do the soft DTCs have on the car? Is it absolutely necessary for me to get the simulator?

No negative affects on the car, that I know about. They can also be used on stock exhaust, if you want to keep the valves wide open.

You don’t need the valve simulators.
You only get a soft code if you run diagnostics with VCDS and the like. No warnings on the dash, no impact of the drive.

May be a little noisy in the morning when you start from cold though.....

It’s an unfortunate fact that any car with turbos is going to be fairly quiet

    2018 S7/ sport exhaust.
Did ECS x- pipe resonator delete 4 weeks ago...It made it sound little deeper a lot more pops..Undecided yet if improvement is worth the sacrifices.. I know we don't buy these cars for gas mileage but it is my daily driver.. Unfortunately I lost 3-4 MPG . In cruise control at 72 I went from 25-26 to 20-21 , no change in driving habits. Local may have slight habit change but went from 14 to 10-11.

Question.. should i be tuning this? i get a lot of advice saying the air mixture has made it burn rich. also that it could damage the car in doing so. car has 3 years left on warranty. i hesitate to tune it for concern over warranty. may just weld back in resonator at some point

What have been fuel and performance experiences?

That’s wild, that an x-pipe made that big of a difference in gas mileage… I recognize turbo cars don’t need an H/X-pipe because there is no need to smooth out (scavenge) exhaust pulses - unlike N/A vehicle. But damn, didn’t think the an X-pipe would have that much of a negative effect

Hmm.. I have just delete the rear 2 resonators - and sounds awesome in dynamic sports mode. Have not done X-Pipe, was thinking of it; since i already have purchased it but i really don't think it should make much of difference in gas mileage...
