    Do I have AFS headlights?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a 2013 Q5 3.0T with the S-Line package. Wanted to confirm if it has the AFS headlights or not.

These are the part numbers i found on top of each headlight:

    Left: 8R0 941 005 B (Valeo 90021778)
    Right: 8R0 941 006 B (Valeo 90021779)

The headlights dip down then come back up when I start the car, but I don't notice them pointing left or right while driving/turning.

Trying to replace these because they were pretty hazy and a headlight restore didn't help much. The haze seems to be inside the clear housing...

I believe that AFS is not the lights pointing when you turn, but rather an additional bulb that is pointing diagonally out the housing that is illuminated when turning.

    Somewhat correct answer
MY 2009-2012 exists with AFS. On MY 2013-2017 it is called a headlight for cornering light and they have an additional bulb
You have a spare parts diagram attached, so you can see for yourself

    You have standard front headlights
    S-N: 8R0941005B replaced with 8R0941043B
    8R0941043B replaced with 8R0941043E

if you have heated and cooled cupholders, then you have AFS lights.

The standard headlights have "Static Cornering" lights, that light up at slow speeds when turning. These are the halogen H7 bulbs at the outer portion of the headlight housings.
The Prestige trim level has the Static Cornering bulbs AND active AFS, which aims the HID projector units left or right, depending on the steering wheel angle, at higher roads speeds (higher than when the Static Cornering lights are active).

    That is simply not true
Pictures speak more than 1000 words

Standard headlights do not have an additional H7 bulb

Agree with above, I have standard bixenon and they do not have the cornering lights. Only thing I could possibly do code the fog as a cornering light in VCDS.

    Red face

I stand corrected....I was thinking about my VW CC which had static cornering lights standard, and AFS swivel lights with the Xenon HIDs of the higher trim levels.

I have afs and have a light system failure, scan says left bulb open circuit. It was blown i replaced it.
Car still says i have a fault, scan no longer pics it up.

Not sure how to investigate it further. Everything online has just been fixed by replacing the h7 bulb
