B9.5 Simple Tail Light Mod

Got tired of the chrome look while everything else was black. Previously on my A3 I used smoked tint to cover the reverse lights. That's what I really wanted but it didn't work well for this application due to the curvature and lack of adhesion. While building out an S6 on the Audi website I saw how the rear looked with the BO package and a light went off!

Tried to do my version of this today with some gloss 3M 1080 vinyl. I think it came out decent and was very easy to apply after a little measuring. At a close look it isn't perfectly aligned with the factory chrome strip but it's very hard to tell. It's subtle but completed the BO package look with the black S4 badge I added.

Does the chrome have any functionality on the taillight- or pure aesthetics? ( reflector value or reverse light value?)

Pretty sure it's just aesthetics but I could be wrong. The rear bumper has red reflectors built into it.
