i sneak the ratcheting side of one of those onto the nut. then I use any variety of big wrenches to push or pull on the open mouth of that wrench to turn the nut

John, How do you get enough purchase on that stubby to crack the nut loose? I was thinking of picking up a stubby ratchet and use a socket...and maybe a slide hammer from above to crack it.

Der Konig, Are you able to sneak a breaker bar down to the wobble ext. from above?

if you picture the pen as the nut on the turbo, the stubby wrench is sorta wrapping around the exhaust and I push or pull up with a big wrench on the stubby like so, in the airbox area

and you may be dealing with nuts that are far more stuck than mine. mine come on/off every few years, are you dealing with originals or anything siezed?

Help...ive tried about everything and that one lower inboard nut is killing me. There isn't room for one click...just the play in the socket and extension uses up all of the room.
Iceman, a 6" extension?...no room that close to the nut. I'm going to try to find a short length of pipe that fits snugly on my ratchet for leverage.
    I don't think it's even a possibility from underneath!
I really need to figure this out!

if the car was here i would shoot a quick you tube video for you but my son has it and only comes home on the weekends.. yup thats a 6" extension . sounds like your set up might have too much slop or you need a finer ratchet.

is there any possibly way to take up the slop ( as i know exactly what you are talking about )
i wonder if your "wobbly" connection is providing too much play . that one i use is out of my hardened impact set and works great.
the one thing i can do though is put it all together next to a tape measure so you can see if you are in the ballpark for length

Just bought a 3/8 drive extra (15") long (100 tooth) ratchet. If this doesn't do it, I don't know what will!

Get a 120 tooth gearwrench or 144 tooth husky.

Ive never had an issue getting the 4 bolts off. But i have a test pipe so i have a little more room there.

not great but it may help ... my setup is 9 3/4 inches long. i just did a quick video as my son dropped by and the car was cooled off.

its hard to do videos by yourself when you need two hands and also need to use the phone.
shows you can get on the nut , hold the extension to take up the slack and you can get one click at a time.

Hey! I REALLY appreciate that you took the time to make that little video! I'm going to take another shot at cracking that nut tonight. I sprayed the hell out of it....It's so damned tight!

i think you need half inch the whole way though , too much flex in 3/8 you dont have enough room to allow for flex.

if you lived closer id have you drop buy and id crack it for you.

YYYEEESSS! I got that son of a bitch off!
Got my long 1/2" breaker bar on it. Kept trying different orientations of the 6 pt socket on the drive and was able to crack it enough to use my new extra long 3/8 fine tooth ratchet on it. Man, was that tight! Now, I'll have to figure out how to get the new one on, but that's a trial for another night!
Thanks again to my new Audi friends...didn't let me give up!
