Anyone have experience with these 2 brands? Not many good options available locally here in Kanada... was just quoted over $600 parts, labor and tax by dealer!

costco kirland approx $150 but it's flooded

    Group Size: H7
    Item #270545

    Battery Specifications:

    Cold Cranking Amps – 790
    Cranking Amps – 985

    Amp Hours – 80
    Voltage – 12V

    Dimensions: (millimetres)

    Length: 315
    Width: 175
    Height: 190

agm H8 energizer is approx $280

    Specifications:
    Dimensions (L x W x H): 35.3 cm x 17.5 cm x 19.0 cm (13.94 in. x 6.94 in. x 7.50 in.)

Stock batteries could be H7, H8, or H9; could be flooded or AGM.
What is your battery PR code for your car?
What part number was the dealership quoting you?

$600??? WTF are they smoking? I just changed the battery in my Q7 and it cost me $200 with the most expensive battery they had in stock at my local Autozone. And that only took me an hour to get under the seat and put everything back and I took my time. It should take you 15mins max to swap out the battery from your trunk.

This is what I used and it should fit easy - https://www.autozone.com/batteries-s...cca/229889_0_0
Life has taught me never try to make something idiot proof, they'll simply come up with a better idiot.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
I have neither the time, nor the crayons to explain this to you properly.

I went to Walmart and bought a regular non-AGM H8 I believe Everstart Maxx and haven’t had an issue with it in a year so far. It was only like $140 to.

Make sure you code for a new battery. Otherwise, you can kill the new one.

    I know, right?

doesn't seem like we have many good options north of the border.

Is agm an absolute must or regular old flooded ok?

not sure, have to check on both...

so agm or flooded ok for our vehicles?

    -----

anyone else from canada here with good options? checked napa, parts source, caa, interstate... all $300... even costco.ca agm energizer $280 and it's an H8 at which point dealer at $300 not bad... jelly all our brothers south of the border have good $150 and less options.

The PR code will tell you what battery came in the car originally.
The battery adaptation value (address 0x19, adaptations, channel 04) will tell you what the car is currently configured to believe the present battery is (once you interpret the part number to what it represents).
You can set the part number in the adaptation to any of the six valid values to reflect whichever of the six stock battery configurations you end up installing in the car.
AGM is better than flooded. My original AGM lasted over 10 years, and it's actually still good (good ol' parts cannon) and sitting in the garage. AGM will have more cranking amps but less Ah (if you like to run the electronics with the engine off) for the same size.
I assume your car doesn't have start/stop (no US B8 had start/stop); if it did, you'd need the AGM then.
