weight of a B8.5

I got to weigh my car today on a calibrated weigh scale. i was just curious as some of the apps like Torque ask for car weight.

My 2015 B8.5 6 speed manual with half a tank of gas weighs. 1665Kg no driver .

And im certainly not going to tell you how much weight the driver adds :)

Sounds about right. They come in just shy of 2tons. Chonky little bastards aren't they.

That'll be interesting,I thought the B8's gave up weight compared to the B7.
I must say that looking at Wolfie on the hoist ( yep,still haven't drilled down to the fail,life got busy ) he looks diminutive compared to chunky Heidi...

Audi's docs show 3527 lbs (brochure) or 3549 lbs (tech doc) for 2008 A4 2.0T quattro manual sedan, and 3616 lbs (tech doc) for 2010 A4 2.0T quattro manual sedan, up to 3627 lbs (brochure) for a 2014 A4 2.0T quattro manual sedan. 8 gallons is roughly 48 lbs, so right about your measured 3670 lbs (1665 kg).

+100 lbs seems not bad at all for a car that's ~6" longer and about ~2.5" wider.

You might be right... The b7 might feel more nimble for other reasons..

The avant (3814 lbs, 2010 avant 2.0t ZF6 quattro) is +110 lbs over the sedan (3704 lbs, 2010 sedan 2.0t ZF6 quattro). No doubt some of that is that panoramic roof.
4160 seems heavy. I could see Prestige adding some weight for MMI and such equipment over a baseline model which is what Audi's docs no doubt reflect. But +350 lbs? If we take off 80 lbs for gas, that's still a lot of extra weight. Unless Audi weighed an avant without the panoramic roof and used that weight in the docs; all US avants had the panoramic roof though.

idk what to believe other than the weighbridge which I guess never lies....

Also from Audi Australia re the 2008 Avant ( page 9 under lightweight steel construction) also says B8 is 9% lighter :

The general belief is that B8's are lighter.Seeing that both of our cars are 2.0lt,I'd be curious to weigh both if it was easier.

There's no way a B8 is lighter than a B7 with the same body type / engine type / transmission type / drivetrain layout.

Yea,I tend to agree with you per my comments in post #4 above.
When ( if ) I get the B7 up and running,the weighbridge is not too far away, so just might do a check weigh out of interest....

not sure about in canada but the US dump scales are usually not that accurate. If you have a truck stop nearby or weigh station i would hit those scales. oh and that was full tank of gas when i weighed.

The guy was there calibrating the day I was there the first time..but you are right. By next week they will.probably be off
