    4.2 v8 6 speed manual trans question

I know this is a b6/b7 s4 forum but I’ve posted on the b8 s5 threads with no luck I feel these are much more active. I have a 09 b8 s5 with the above 4.2 and 6 speed. My major dilemma is that my stabilizer bar for shifter to engage 1/2 gear and 5/6 has came loose. I realized the mounting pad for bar to attach to has broken off. I allready have trans out and new (what Audi calls a shift unit) but I don’t know how to get old shift unit out... it’s a long shaft that comes from passenger upper side trans to the driver side where it comes out as the stub for shifter to attach to. I just would greatly appreciate if somebody could assist me in this.

Take a look at this picture. I'm guessing you need to unbolt both sides to pull out the selector unit from the pass......B8S5.JPG

Hope this helps. If not I can look into ELSAWIN for you.

Thank you so much for taking the time to get that for me. I spoke with an Audi tech and he said the repair is pretty straightforward just a little wiggling and some taps should get it out. I’ll post an update once I get a little further
