Hi ladies and gents!
It’s been a while since I posted on AZ.
I’ve just taken delivery of a C5 RS6 Avant. A 2004, so it’s pretty much the last of the line. Daytona Grey, with grey leather and matching headlining.
It’s in need of some love, and it’ll get plenty from me. I’m not too bothered about power, so a stage 1 tune will be fine. I’ve got other much lighter cars that’ll be running BCY engines that’ll satisfy my need for speed. At some point, I’ll be doing an 01E swap - I have 6 01E’s in my storage unit.
It has a cracked front bumper, which can be repaired, but I’m picking one up on Sunday, same colour. There’s also a ding in the left hand fender, on the lower part of the wheel arch “bulge”. Again, it’ll repair, but it’s also being replaced with one in the same colour.
I did the timing belt service the day it was delivered, as well as oil, filters, coil packs and spark plugs.
It has a random misfire, which has come up as an open circuit on cylinder #2 coilpack, which I shall be addressing. It also has a bad CCM, meaning intermittent hazard lamps flashing, no interior lamps and central locking is inoperative, with the rear doors deadlocked.
It had 2 different wheels on each axle, with none being correct for an RS6. I purchased a freshly powder-coated set from the seller, and bought new tyres, which I had mounted. 255/35x19 XL’s.
I’m making my parts collection trip on Sunday, to pick up:
- Black C5 RS6 Avant leather interior.
- Black C5 RS6 door cards.
- Grey alcantara head lining, with all plastics, sun visors, interior lamps etc.
- CCM.
- Tailgate gas struts.
- Menu switch.
- Left hand side fender.
- Front bumper.
- Hazard lamp / ESP / PDC switch surround.
- GPS aerial mast.
The third brake lamp is missing, and though the seller has one for me to pull off a tailgate, it’s easier to buy a new one, as they seem to crack easily when prying them free.
Once I’ve taken care of these, I’ll look into having the car detailed, and sealed, including getting the headlamps done, as they’ve gone yellow.
Pictures to follow. 👍
