2013 Audi A4 Quattro, how to check what engine version I have?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
hello all, I have a leaking fuel injector in cylinder 3 that caused misfires and my engine to stall on the highway. peaked inside cylinder three and saw that when I primed the fuel pump, gas dumped into the cylinder. So now I am replacing all fuel injectors, all spark plugs, along with an oil change. I have never replaced my fuel injectors before, so I am looking at YouTube videos online. The humble mechanic posted a great video showing the version three engine fuel injector repair, but I do not believe that my 2013 car has the latest version. where can I check what version my engine is? Or does anybody know if it’s the same process as a version three engine?

also, what else should I do/replace while replacing my fuel injectors? Thanks.

You have either a CAEB or CPMA in a US MY13 A4. Is the intake manifold made of plastic or metal?

What about the engine code from the production sticker in the spare wheel well? What does it show? Also, look here for original part numbers: http://www.oemepc.com/audi/parts_lst...art/736/lang/e

    It's the CPMA engine.

So the CPMA engine with the two-piece metal intake manifold. Make sure you get the correct injectors, 06H 906 036 N. The Bosch catalog part number for them is 62823; they are physically marked as part number 0 261 500 164.

There's this video on the removal of the metal manifold - www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQZj85Db_Kc

But he's a shop mechanic, and makes up what he cares to be careful with and what to disregard regarding the actual process. It's also not going to provide you any of the torque specs you need, etc. I suggest you pay for a day to erwin.audiusa.com and get the actual legit documentation on the process, and combine that with the experience of the video to accomplish the task. The intake manifold is covered in the Fuel Injection and Ignition document, but get them all. You're going to need the Engine Mechanical, etc, as different bits of the overall process are documented in different documents.

Thank you to everyone who helped me sort this out. Replaced all of my spark plugs and fuel injectors along with an oil change. Runs great now. Fingers crossed that another problem doesn't occur at least for a little while, haha.

Although I should add, when I started the car for the first time after repairing, it had a rough go at first which I wasn't surprised, I'm sure there was extra fuel in a cylinder or in the line somewhere, I don't know, I'm not crazy good with this stuff. But I got a whole mess of warnings through my OBD reader. Like I said though, car ran just fine after a couple of seconds. I went ahead and cleared the codes, and have put about 100 miles on it since then and no issues, even better MPG than when I first bought it. Apart from that I smell a stronger scent of fuel when I have it parked.

Don't know what to say, may have a certified local dealer look over it for me.

Drove it again today, did not smell gas this time. I don't know, the car sat nearly a month before I worked on it, not sure if that has anything to do with it. I should note I did not smell fumes in the cab ever, just standing by it in the front. It honestly could have just been me being skeptical that I did a good job or not, and observing the car more than I usually do. Also, no CEL on yet, and the fuel economy is great. I am no mechanic but I feel like if something was leaking the computer or I would have noticed something different. That being said, I ordered a VCDS cable, it comes Friday. I am not driving the car until that comes and I can check some data. Problem is I don't really know what data points to look at.

You sound like you really know your shit, haha. Would you by chance happen to know what metrics I should watch to indicate if the fuel injectors, fuel rail, HPFP, and if the engine, in general, is running correctly? Or at least point me in the direction of a good post? I trust what you tell me so I figured I should ask! I also had a P0299 code the day I bought the car back in October, but like I said, the car runs fine so I suspect it was a fluke code or a sensor issue. I would like to inspect that too.

Thanks sir I really appreciate it.
