Review of the RS7 on the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S

These tires are phenomenal and really transforms the way the car feels and drives over the mushy Pirellis. The steering is more stiffer than the prior tires by 30-40 percent and the ride is smoother and the car feels its riding on rails. The noise is far lower the gas mileage is much better getting around 25 mpg at 80 plus mph and around 18 in the city compared to 14-15 city and 20-22 mpg highway with the Pirellis. The RS6/RS7 should of came with these tires from the factory, not Pirellis or Continentals. Just my opinion.

One of the best mods you can make IMO. Have loved the Michelin PS4 and before that the PSS on my last 3 cars now. Every time I switch from the Pirelli's the feel is far superior.

I swapped out my Pirelli factory rubber for the Pilot Sport 4S a couple of years ago. Like you, I came away quite pleased. I've used them on the track as well, and I assure you that under duress they're just as good.

Thanks for confirming my expectations. My plan is to swap the Pirellis for Michelin once the originals need replacing. Were the tires sizes exactly the same as the P-Zeros? I haven't checked if there's an exact match from Michelin yet.

I’ve had the ps4s for the last 5 years and love them. However I’m not getting close to 25mpg in the rs6...on my bmw I was seeing normally 23-24 and on long road trips 30 with the twin turbo v8 but even in comfort cruising on the freeway to la I’m only pushing 23...

That is some fantasy gas mileage in here. I am lucky to get 12mpg on my commute...granted it is about 3.3 miles crap city traffic each way, so, yeah. Have not been on a long expressway cruise, yet. Poked around the city streets with short highway stretches during break-in...which I finished up last week.

I had the Pilot Super Sports on my S4 and thought there were GREAT. PS4s seem to be a step up based on reviews. Once one of the stock Pirelli tires bubbles (AKA a week after I put them on in early April), I will be switching to the PS4s or Super Sport. I have never had a good experience with Pirelli tires.

Just running 41 at each corner like the door said. Could try bumping it a bit...

Review of the RS7 on the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S

How do the stock 21 hankooks fit into this equation? Any thoughts?

I have new wheels on the way and was going to reuse the factory hankooks unless consensus convinces me otherwise.

    Thanks.

How do they wear as compared to the stock Pirelli's?

Typically you get performance, or mileage. Generally not both.

They wear pretty good for sure better than the Pirelli. I got 30k on a set on my 16 Audi A7 with 20s rims.

I reached the same conclusion when I put them on my 328xi. All roads turned to silk!

So far I have been pretty happy with the Pirelli, no complaints at all. Guess Im the odd ball of the bunch. If/when I have any tire issues or they need replacing, I will check out the PS4.

Are the PS4S' all season or summer compound? Can someone post a pic of the tread design? Ferrari owners swear but them when they replace OE Pirellis. Stops tram lining, ride feel improves, wet weather traction is better and they're quieter. I presume the same would be true for for RS6/7s.

The 4S is the summer tires I got. There are the new 4s all season too but I'm not an all season tire fan

Review of the RS7 on the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S

I had PS4’s on my prior car and have the Hankook’s now and at ~5700 miles I am still debating getting another set instead of replacing with PS4’s when the time comes if the savings are right.

For those of you who made the change from the OEM (Pirelli and Hankook) tires to the Michelin PS4S, was there any noticeable increase in noise? I see a lot of folks saying everything improved vs stock, but with the lack of the foam lining on the PS4S, surely some some noise went up (either tread noise or impact volume)?

I have 6k miles on the OEM Hankooks on the RS7 and I find them pretty good noise and ride; but find them a bit squirrely at speed and traction wise are hitting the limits earlier than I should; though I am still playing with pressures between all the OEM speed options.

I often swap to Michelin pretty early when the Audi OEM starts to wear. On the TTS and TTRS it was a massive improvement of the Pirelli (old school P Zero on that model). I have always noticed a decrease in road noise as well, but I have never gone from Acoustic Foam tires to the PS4S.

How is the rim protection on the stock rim for the PS4S? Does anyone have an pics mounted on stock wheels?

The PS4 are a little louder in both areas you mentioned vs the Hankooks in my experience. I'd classify it as enough to notice but not enough to be annoying/intrusive. I didn't have the Pirellis on long enough to compare. Note I also drive with my windows down very often...with them up the noise difference is even less noticeable.

I have had the Michelins on my cars for year. My CTS-V (garage queen) and my ATS-V daily driver have had many sets. I love these tires. I live in Florida and get rain often. As soon as my Hankook are ready I will, without hesitation, replace with the Michelins. They may have more road noise but the handling is supurb.
