New Clutch, then P2101 Throttle Body Code and EPC....

I just had a new clutch put in and I’ve been driving around town to get it broken in. Twice now this code has been thrown followed by TPMS, EPC, and a few other faults. I clear the codes and everything is fine but I’m wondering what the deal is. I can’t see how the clutch install would have caused this but I’ve never had this code pop up before. Any ideas? I am running a ported iAbed throttle body but I have been for over a year and never see this before.

That almost sounds like a battery on its way out. It was, I suggest, disconnected for the clutch change as you don't want a spanner on a bolt and touching the starter motor! That could get exciting! Take a look at the battery connections, check they are nice and tight, if so get the battery load tested. If all OK then move on from there. Get the simple things checked first.

New Clutch, then P2101 Throttle Body Code and EPC....

Thank you I checked the battery voltage with the engine off, and it run 12.1 V so it didn’t seem too bad. I then did a VCDS scan which turned up a fair amount of faults across the different computers. I had seen this happen once before as a result of a low battery, so I thought that possibly could’ve been the case as you indicated. I charged the battery, cleared all codes, and performed a throttle body adaptation.

Unfortunately it threw the code again today, twice actually. Has anyone actually had a throttle body fail? Or perhaps there is an issue with iAbed wire harness? I have not noticed any issues driving, so there is nothing that is obviously at fault.

I’ve ordered a new throttle body and contacted Issam Abed to see if he has ideas and to possibly order a new wire harness. I’m also going to contact 034 just to see if they have thoughts but it seems hard to believe this is tune related since I’ve been running this file for a few months and never had an issue.

I think I found the problem. I removed my intake hose and with the ignition on, pressed the accelerator to the floor. The butterfly opened up, but when I released the accelerator it did not return to the closed position:

When I tried manually opening and closing the butterfly, I could feel resistance especially on the close. The whole throttle body itself is very clean because of the water–meth injection, but I wonder if the return spring has become weak, or if some debris has still gotten in and made it difficult for the valve to close smoothly. In any case, I would be willing to bet this is what the problem is...
