Black Forest Industries Mounts Installation DIY

    Hey all

I made a DIY video recently of me and a friend installing Stage 1 BFI mounts in my 2019 RS3.

It's a pretty straight forward job that may seem intimidating to some but can be done with a few basic tools and solid instruction. For those on the fence about tackling it yourself it may save you a bit of $ by knocking it out on your own.

Sorry for the length but I wanted to be thorough!

    Hope this helps!

I had my BFI mounts installed about 2-3 months ago and it came with the wrong bolts. The passenger side bolts were too short and did not have enough thread. The shop had to order a new set which thankfully the shop is located less than 1/4 mile from the Audi dealer.

Audi quoted me 6 hours to do all 3 (lower insert and passenger and transmission mount, I found a third party specialized ship that did the 3 mounts plus the haldex service all for $550.
8V RS3 [email protected] mph (ran a few 11.7s stock and ran 118+mph several times)
8Y RS3 k&N filter ran [email protected] (ran 11.6 5 times and trapped 120+ several times)
    at 3100ft elevation

Yeah no way should it take 6 hours to replace all three. It took us a total of about 2 to do the engine and trans mount and around 1.5 to do the ECE dogbone.

That’s part of the reason I decided to make this DIY. There are really no step by step instruction videos for this platform and it could save some a lot of money if they just tackled it themselves.

This install looks like a nightmare. Are these mounts really worth it?

The mounts really make the car feel more connected, with just a slight increase in vibration through the steering wheel at idle. the main benefit is the shifts, not more clunk. Shifts are smooth as butter.

Not trying to be a dick in any way but exactly what looks like a nightmare? This is relatively easy compared to other jobs I've done. It can all be done from the top of the car and with basic tools. The only thing that would make this slightly more difficult is doing on your own but its still not super difficult. If you have any questions/concerns about steps feel free to ask, I should be able to help you out.

And if you drive the car hard or have increased the power in any way then yes, they are 100% worth it.
