    Cost of Lowering Spring Installation

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey Everyone,

I just ordered new wheels, tires, and an EMD spring kit. I was wondering what is a "decent" price for the install of the springs and the alignment should be? So far I've only got one quote from a "Euro Repair" shop in town and it was $1450. That seems high to me, but I am not familiar with the going rates. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

That's absurd. I paid $350 from a very reputable shop and $100 for alignment.

Over the last few years I've seen most people here quote around $700 for install and alignment, but if all the assist systems have to be recalibrated, then it's additional $700.
I installed mine myself for free fiddy!

A friend of mine is a mechanic at Toyota. He said he could do it for me for a VERY reasonable price. I was just hesitant to bring it to someone who isn't used to working on Germans. Should I just go with him? I am not mechanically inclined at all, so this is definitely not something I would do myself.

The only word of caution is the realignment and recalibration. If you search through the lowering DIY thread you'll see what I had to go through with that shit

Yeah I saw that. I am hoping that I don't have to go through that since it seems like that is the minority of people who have to go through that. I don't plan on doing the recalibration unless I really have to.

i have checked with two places in my area. Achtuning quoted me ~$1200 including installation, 034 Dynamic+ springs, and alignment. A LesSchwab quoted me ~$800 including installation, H&R springs and alignment. Unfortunately, the LesSchawb told me they can only do with H&R springs.

Going to be doing mine in the next month or so, I'm a master tech, so I can't imagine the process will be unfamiliar, and if installed properly there should be little need for recalibration of anything. I will check the mechanical alignment myself and set it up as I prefer but that's on any car.

I just got a quote from another place near me that said $130/hr and it would take 5-7 hours to do the springs. But they also said that you can't get a proper alignment without camber plates. What is your experience with this?

Did the front springs myself and then realized my modest tools could not complete the rears. Took it to a European vehicle specialty garage in the area, which charged me $200 for rear only installation. They completed it in 35mins. Got an alignment for $120 after.

It cost me a whopping $300 to get my springs installed. At a very reputable, high end shop. Got the alignment done by a porsche race team for $150. I'd definitely shop around. Those prices are absolutely ridiculous

Man, any of you know people in Louisiana. I've called 3 places so far that specializes in European vehicles, and I think the lowest I've got is about $1200.

We're definitely limited by the lack of shops around Louisiana. I was quoted $1000 to install at a local shop in Baton Rouge. In the end, 1st Stop Autohaus in Houston installed it for $400. It gave me a good reason to make a day trip to H-town.

I'm looking for a shop to call 'home' to. A place that is friendly and understands Audis.

I brought my B7 to a local shop and they did it for $800 which I thought was excessive.

Wow! I have a quote of $600 out the door from NPG in Aberdeen, Md.

I messaged their service manager on Instagram, and went back a double checked the quote. $600 installed and aligned.

With adaptive suspension, does the installation get complicated? I’ve been getting quotes all over the place. Some saying they won’t do it because of the adaptive suspension.

Induktion in MD has for the last few years charged flat rate 550 for shocks and springs , springs or coilovers with an alignment. That’s what it cost me. Over 1000 seems absolutely ridiculous - unless they run into issues like pinch bolts or needed to remove the rear sub frame, it shouldn’t take more than 4 hours for a good euro guy to do it.

Don’t know if you are anywhere near MD but http://4induktion.com cannot be beat.

I've had some wildly varying quotes from places here in the NYC area that tune Audis/VWs etc. For spring install including alignment, it ranged from $860 to $1250. I've decided to drive an hour to NJ to get it done for $500 by a place that also specializes in Audis/VWs.

    Definitely worth shopping around.

I contacted EMD located in socal and was offered a install price of $250 which is the lowest I've seen so far. But interestingly, they said its fine to get an alignment done the same day as settling won't impact the toe/camber. From what I've been reading, almost everyone suggested to get an alignment after its fully settled. Can anyone chime in on that?

Did anyone have to get their sensors (lane assist, pre-sense, ACC, etc.) recalibrated after installing lowering springs? If so, how much did you pay?

i haven't been to Aberdeen, but i've gone to their Manassas/Lorton location. i was quoted about the same for springs/coilovers on my MK7, so that sounds about right. however, they never quite fixed the issue with my headlights pointing too low. they kept saying that no recalibration was needed. could be a one of scenario, but i'd personally have everything recalibrated if that seems to be the standard. i'm not a fan of having to go back to get the job completed
