    P0322/Crankshaft Position Sensor???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey all,

Wondering if you could lend your expertise to me. 2008 Audi A4 2.0T bone stock. I replaced the CPS about a year ago, no the car does a crank but no start and is throwing the P0322 code. Could it be possible that the sensor is bad already? If not, what else could be causing that code. Pretty new here, but have enjoyed learning a lot from the archived threads. Thanks.

It could be the CPS, the connector/contacts to the CPS or the wiring to the CPS. Have you checked all that?

That code is no signal from CPS if I recall, so start with obvious.

Have you pulled CPS out and inspected?

Sorry, the P0322 code description is no signal from the engine speed sensor.

All of the wiring looks good, as does the connector itself. I was waiting to pull the actual sensor because it is such a hassle. I guess that should be my next step. But, what could I tell visually by inspecting the sensor itself? I already ordered a new one, I just wanted some experienced input if there could be some other issue. Thanks.

If you think that's a pain you better sell the car before your coolant flange fails
Odd thing is I've had the cps fail in a b7 twice. Absolutely no codes at all.. just instantly morphed my car into a FORD

when you have no related codes it cranks but it just won't start the crank position sensor is always a great place to start

Ha! I place the CPS just slightly easier than the godforsaken diverter valve though!

Thanks Theiceman. I ordered another one, I was just curious if anyone here had that code show up with any other culprit.

I just got that stupid electrical signal to fuel system code and replacing the crank sensor fixed that.

So id say replace it. They're cheap anyway.

Update - it was the sensor after all. I guess that 14 months is the life expectancy for them. Thanks for all of the help.

Thought so, you just got a bad one. They normally last many years.
