    Test pipes question

Hi I have a 2.75 exhaust with maganaflow rear boxes and 200cell race cats. I'm looking at swapping to a de cat and fit tubular resonators instead of the cats.

Is that a good idea or will it be really noisy

    Thanks

I have decatted downpipes to a GMG cat back. Cold starts sound amazing, my neighbors might think otherwise depending on how early it is, but you can always get the high rpm cold start tuned out since it’s not needed without cats and at idle it isn’t much louder than just the exhaust was with the cats.
This is what the GMG exhaust consisted of, no longer available.

I did no cats to a res JHM and it was far louder but not obnoxious loud. What was really noticeable was how freely the engine will spin up without the cats. Also, I went with the res version to minimise any drone, which seemed to be an issue if you didn’t have any cats and the non-res version.

I have changed the rear boxes to larger ones and to me now it's perfect. But on the hunt for power I want to remove the cats, I was going to swap them to silencers instead and hope it's as it was the same

I wouldn’t expect a big power bump going from 200 race cats to none

I think they are 2.5 inch ones that are cutout to fit, so flow might not be the best.
