It is my understand that there are 3 levels of flex fuel tuning. The minimum and maximum power levels match the original tuning they offered. But, stage 1 and stage 1+ now have the same maximum power with e85 (I believe max power is actually achieved at e70 for flex tuning versus e60 for standard non flex, for safety) and you will choose the lower end before tuning, 91 or 93. Stage 2 is 93 and e85 only.

This sounds logical, would love for someone at Unitronic to confirm.

    Uni, question for you:
Are there any plans for the mobile app to replace the need for the Windows-based Unironic tuning/flashing software at some point? Maintaining a Windows laptop just for tuning the car is not my favorite. :)

I feel that. Ive got 1 just for unitronic and my audi, and another dedicated to Porsche/piwis. Would love to be able to move fully mobile.

Essentially around e30ish both the 91 and 93 files will perform the same as there’s enough ethanol to combat the difference in fuel quality between 91 and 93oct as the base

This is absolutely something we have in the pipeline. We have some more details about this in our discord chat

Just wondering if anyone here can help. I'm in Australia and the response from Unitronic Australia and the vairous dealers has been piss poor (no response at all). I cant find out how much it is or if its even available. Buying through the uni website isn't an option as it looks like they don't sell direct to consumer and any of the uni dealers websites all just say they sell uni but don't have an online store. I cant even purchase a sticker without having to go through the trouble of emailing or calling someone. It's honestly a really shit experience.

Is anyone here able to tell me what it costs in Australia to go from a stage 1+ tune to the flex tune and how much the hardware is. I really wish I could just buy directly from the uni website...

I've had the stage 1 UniFLEX tune for a little while now and I love it so far! I've been slowly "filling as I go". Started about 1/4 tank E85 with 3/4 92. Been filling up with E85 about every quarter tank. Last tank it read E77 steady. Ran that tank down to almost 1/4 tank and filled E85 today. Reading around E82 now. I've been slowly watching MPG go down, today was around 12-13mpg after. I know power gains between E60-85 are nothing really. I'm gonna run this tank down, fill with 92 and get it to E40 and see how the MPG gets.

Just as it always has been, Stage 1 is meant for 91oct and Stage 1+ is meant for 93oct minimum. The same is carried over into the FLEX realm. Stage 1 91 FLEX is meant for 91<->E85 and Stage 1+ is meant for 93<->E85.

I do have a question regarding the stages however. I don't have 93 octane in my direct area, so when I pump petrol it will be non-oxy 91 octane. However, 95% of the time I will pump straight e85 (usually around e80). At e80 would we see any power differences between stage 1 vs stage 1+?
If you're always deep into the higher eth contents, technically it wouldn't matter which base timing mapping you are using, but I still recommend you using a 91oct based FLEX enabled tuned file, for the event that you do end up using 91oct.

Hello everyone, maybe someone can help me! After several years of waiting in stage 1+ E85 Uni, the Uniflex is finally here.
I am from France and I ordered my parts with the costs involved in importing them (no distributor in France).
I would like to point out that I am on a 2017 TTRS MK3 first version (no particle filter; DAZA) and I can't reach Uni by phone from France.

I install the module and first problem, the harness which goes from the ethanol sensor to the bluetooth module (part UH026-FL7) is too short (27cm) to install the bluetooth module with the MBQ bracket on the 13mm bolt. I've tried every way. So I have to fix it with a zip on the chassis. I sent a request with Unitronic but no response. Besides that, the module works correctly and gives me my ethanol content

Then, I decided to order the flex software update. Urotuning who i paid the extra 500$ told me:
"Unfortunately, the flex files for this particular box code and revision are not readily available. There has been a request submitted to have this completed, however, we do not currently have an ETA on the completion of this request. Although it should be made available shortly. As soon as it has been completed, we will let you know." "I know they are currently working on the EVO4 platform as we speak, so once that is released they may work on this."

Do I really have the evo 4 platform?
I don't really understand why after waiting for so long, the first TTRS MK3 DAZA model is not yet compatible with this update. However, it is well indicated on their site.

Maybe @unitronic can give me more details here for my two problems.

The Uniflex module has a serial number on it which will need to be registered to Unitronic so that they can enable the flex tune file for your account. This is probably why you do not see the flex tune file when programming. So likely that your shop is waiting on Unitronic to enable the file for you. You can mount the bracket to the 12mm bolt just below the coolant reservoir ( see their bracket page for MQB ) this will allow enough cable to reach the ethanol sensor and the 8 pins piggyback plug. One thing you must do is to update the firmware on the flex module by using the IOS or Android app or else you might get DTC errors.

I sent my VIN and model to the shop and this is what they told me. Unitronic would have informed them that this was not yet available. So I haven't tried flash yet. However, they didn't ask me for the serial number of the Uniflex module....

Concerning the bracket, I have already tried to attach it to the 13MM bolt, but if I want to leave it there as the harness is too short, I have to put the ethanol sensor upwards...I can't put it down, due to lack of length.

It may take Unitronic a day or two to complete the request to enable the file for you. If you mount the bracket to the bolt below the coolant reservoir and the flex module horizontally with the ethanol connector towards the engine side, you should be able to have enough cable length. See attached picture.

I would have liked to but the answer I got was different "EVO4 is the new-gen VW, so MK8 GTI and R mostly. You are correct, you have the Daza, which is still in production. Once they have completed the EVO4 release, they should be able to get to work on the files for your vehicle, we just don't have a timeframe yet."

Yes I have tried in this way too, but no the harness is still not long enough

I see. Sorry to hear that, hopefully they will get a release for the EVO4 soon.

Any other 2022 TTRSs under go the Flex? I'm having an issue with a non-matching connector. Awaiting Uni to make a new harness for my very very late production TTRS. I was told that it has a connector to the tranny that has more wires on the tranny than the older TTRSs trannies. I was told it's more like the new RS3's connector. Since it was at the end of production, maybe they ran out of parts and had to use some newer ones? Just my speculation.

I know as for as the US goes, mine was one of the very last....no more came in to my dealership and subsequent orders were cancelled.

Thanks for sharing! Specific Tuned files are subject to availability for your ECU box code. If Tuned Files are not available for your ECU box code, please submit a Tuned File Request or email support [at] getunitronic.com for more information. If you've already submitted a Tuned File Request, we are working on it - it should be available on our server very soon!

The harness that is sent standard with the UniFLEX for DAZA is 30cm long. You can try rotating the bracket to mount the module horizontally to gain some length that you'll need to get the harness to work with the location you mounted the eth sensor. We have 60cm long UniFLEX Body Side Harnesses, as well, that is included in a different platform's UniFLEX Hardware Kits that we could offer to you, if you prefer this option with where you mounted the eth sensor.

We have developed UniFLEX Body Harnesses for the 8Y RS3 platform that share the same connector that the MY22 8S TTRS has. Rather than the standard 8-pin connector like on MY17-21 RS3 & TTRS, the 8Y RS3 and MY22 8S TTRS use a 14-pin connector. I believe you were working with Ostar Motorsports — your body harness is enroute to Ostar for your vehicle!

Thanks John for the answers, Nick takes care of my case on the Unitronic support ticket 10043. I sent him videos and photos. My harness measures less than 27cm without the connector part, that's probably why. I also tried horizontally but that doesn't work either. I think (/hope) he'll send me a new one

Concerning the ECU the request has been made. I think this will all be resolved quickly. Thanks

I saw the photo you sent to Nick - you need to straighten the harness out and measure the total length. It is 30cm long.

Hum, okay.. So why can't I mount it on the bracket? Have you seen my video? On this one, the harness is fully tightened and I can't reach the bracket

Looks like you mounted your sensor too far away. My sensor is mounted closer the to coolant tank.

I just placed an order for a "longer" ethanol harness from y'all at Unitronic given that the kit (30 cm) was too short. My sensor is mounted in front of the engine right over the alternator (from a previous sensor install). I need a 2'-3' sensor harness for some wiggle room. Uni, maybe your dealers can offer a few options at checkout? 30-60-90-whatever? FWIW, the body harness is more than enough.

Some companies have 4' extensions for the sensor wire, but that's WAY too much. Hopefully this longer harness will do the trick. Right now, the uniflex is zip-tied behind my headlight. :)

They offer a longer sensor to flex module cable? Same problem on my TTRS.

Oui, ami. Note, it's twice as long, but you might want to make sure 60cm will work before you order.

    Code:
Reference: UH031-FL7 UniFlex Sensor Harness (60cm)

Update: New cable worked great. This should probably be the default length. ;)

Just to ease anyone else’s concern, with the ethanol sensor mounted in the standard Fuel-It location, on the side of the engine, the standard lengths worked perfectly.

    Happy installing!

I finally have time to tackle these upgrades. What’s the issue here? Is there a problem or not? This thread has a lot of back and forth lately.

Theres not really a problem it depends on where you installed your Ethanol sensor.

Agreed. It's not a big deal.

Good, I’m installing harness and tune tomorrow. Today I installed intercooler, 4” intake/inlet, and street dogbone. My god what an awful experience all that was, especially the inlet and dogbone. I’ve done at least 4 sets of downpipes and relocated inlets on N54’s and this was just as miserable as those.

The inlet is…unenjoyable. But the dogbone? Maybe I got lucky but that was one of the easier installs I’ve ever had.

Installed the street dogbone from uni and the center bolt is only at 14.5 lb-ft. The whole car shakes like crazy when just starting off and when at a stop. This cannot be normal?
