MMI Display,"Black Screen" not working issues

I have 2013 Audi S6 and now the MMI display center is not working. I only get a black screen. It does flip up and down though. Has anyone had this issue and possibly some solutions to fix.

Radio and everything still works?

If so the power wires likely broke and a new section of wire will need to be soldered in. Then replace the fuse in the RH side panel.

This happened to mine. It was a pretty easy fix.

Radio definitely still works. Are you saying replace the fuse in the rear trunk or another location? I'll have to get to back of wires to the MMI and check if the power wires are broken. What size are the wires?

Update: Found location of fuses on the left side driver side panel. Does anyone know specifically which one goes to the MMI? How do you remove the fuse panel door? Looks like it's on pretty good.

sepheroth is right, happened to me last summer, few minutes to open up the dash and the soldering didn't take long, all in all was done in an hour. Just followed YouTube video about black mmi screen.

Okay got the fuse door panel off but can't get to the fuses do to some covers that I can't figure how to remove?

From my 2014 S6 owner's manual: Front passenger side cockpit fuse assignment, fuse panel A (black): Fuse #2 labeled "MMI Display", 5 AMP. #3 labeled "CD/DVD Changer", 5 AMP. #4 labeled "MMI unit/drives", 7.5 AMP. Then, Luggage Compartment fuse assignment, fuse panel C (brown): #1 labeled "Radio receiver, sound amplifier/MMI unit/drives, 30/20 AMP. I hope that helps.

Mine was a 7.5 AMP.

I would fix the wires before replacing the fuse.

Okay, going to passenger side and check the 2 fuses for MMI display and MMI unit/drives and see if either is blown or not. After that will go in and check the wiring behind the MMI display for any broken wires.

I did find something while doing some searches on the web that possibly a,"low battery", could cause the display to be turned off by the system to conserve battery energy. I did have it sitting for some time since I haven't been driving it for at least a 1 month or so. Going to take it for a good drive on the freeway to get the battery back up to charged.

Ok, so went out to check fuses on Passenger side and found out that both fuses for MMI display and MMI Unit drive are okay and not blown. Do the fuses necessarily need to be blown to confirm possibility that wiring is severed in the MMI Display?

If the wires don't touch each other they may not blow the fuse.

Mine did.

Alright so did a little freeway driving see if charging the battery a bit would help turn the display back on. Well it never came on so I guess that's not the issue. The,"radio", "media center" buttons work because I can hear the radio and the CD player plays as well. Can't see if the,"Tel", or "Nav", buttons work because no display but red light is on when depressed. I was thinking of doing the ,"3 button reboot" but gonna wait til after I check wires on back of the MMI display. Gonna get this going by the weekend and I'll update what i find out.

Also If anyone could please display where the other fuses are in the rear trunk because I still can't find them, thanks.

If your fuses are good, and the flip up and down still works, and everything else still works, it is almost certainly the power wire going into the back of the unit. Over time, the screen flipping in and out can strain the wires to the point that they break.

As others have said, getting the screen out isn't very difficult, and if you can do a little soldering, you're in the clear.

This issue actually just happened to me a few weeks ago. My 5A fuse blew though. I replace it, it blew again, indicating the wire was shorted somewhere. Ran a new wire and spliced it into place.
Have you tried rebooting the MMI? Instructions here: http://mr-fix.info/audi-mmi-force-restart-reboot-2g-3g/

To get to the fuses in the trunk: slide the little net thing in the pocket on the right side of the trunk out of the way, pop the thin black metal bar out of the two clips at the bottom holding it, turn the two black clips 90 degrees then pull them up to remove. Pull the gray panel out.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking to try reboot but gonna check wire first and confirm if wires were broken or not.

UPDATE: So here's what I found out after pulling things apart. Got to the back of MMI Display and power wires were broken all the way to the connector. Had a friend of mine solder the power wires back into the male pin connector as seen in photo. I also removed the,"zip tie", wrap that held both signal and power wires together which is probably what caused alot of tension on the wire harness. Cut back some of the black sheathing so the power wires could hang out a little bit more. Display is now working. See the pics as to what I described. Thanks, again for everyone's help.

I have tried diagnosing the same issue i have pulled the sreen out check wires and they all look good, i changed the control module unit and my screen is still black, and now that i changed the control module my radio is not working, some one please guide me as to what the issue my be. It all started two years ago, it all started on a hot summer florida day , turning on the car the screen had horizontal lines in it, tried restarting and nothing worked took it to audi dealer and they said the screen needs to be changed, $1500 later installed new screen, the screen is black after installation, went back to Audi and was told that because you put a screen in it need to be programmed to the car, $200 later and they said they couldnt program it it must be the new screen is bad, after researching found a post that said that module F ( the part that u put CD in, need to be changed, just now i installed one and the screen is still black, some one please guide me as to what the problem might be.IMG_2525.jpg
