Looking at a 2015 a3 with 80k miles. I’m aware of haldex failure and I have no idea if fluid has ever been changed. Is this a obvious skip or is it still worth looking at?

It’s tough if you can’t get any service records. Waterpump also fails bc its plastic. If you don’t do your own repairs parts and labor get very expensive. Private individual? Or off dealer lot? DSG fluid also should have been changed at least once and should be done again.

Yes private seller. I usually have done most of my work myself and when it’s something bigger or need help I have a local Audi technician that lives near that will help for cheap. Dsg has been changed.

VWOA changed the haldex oil change requirement to 3 years...reguardless of miles...

Ask for a maintenance history on the car. Carfax.

Does it come with a warrenty?

If you buy it.. you will know if its been changed or not if you change it and see its dark in color and dirty pump screen...

For me a bigger concerned would be if its tuned? Was tuned?

Seems many tune these cars...beat on them...them dump'm
    2015 S3 with 210,000 miles with new 2019 Q5 motor. Still going!

No it doesn’t have a tune or hasn’t been tuned. Completely stock car. He has sent me service records since he has owned from 38k miles. Mostly oil changes, dsg fluid change, couple recall/warranty fixes, brake fluid change, spark plugs and tire rotations is basically what was done since he owned it.

I bought my S3 at 70K. No regrets. Been a great car, now with lots of mods.
2008 R8 V8 Manual: Uni 93 ECU tune * Avior Exhaust * Spacers * R8 Puddle lights * Custom mats. All 12 of my other VAG cars are gone :(

There are enough 2015 A3 2.0t quattros out there that you can find a good one with full service history. Don’t skip on this part. You don’t want to buy someone else’s junk that has been neglected.

2015. I think I'm around 85k now. Bought from dealer, but their "certified used" was a joke and I don't think they did anything but run it through the auto wash. I just did all the maintenance myself. no issues with the car not related to mods. Haldex works perfect, and was clean when I changed the fluid. It doesn't like drag racing though and the trans gets hot after multiple passes (i'm not a drag racer - just did it once. If that's something you do and also tuned, you would want upgraded trans cooling). You can tie yourself in knots around warranties and service history and all that. I generally prefer to buy private and I get a feel for the seller - if its somebody with a crappy house and unkept stuff I pass. If they seem like responsible adults and the deal is right I buy. There's no guarantees anyway. That's why I prefer used and maybe with higher miles. I get a good deal and fix whatever comes up myself and don't look back. A lot less stressful in my mind. Would rather do that than fight over warranty terms with somebody and by buying used, I've got a lot of cushion for whatever repairs might come up. That said, I've had great luck with Audis anyway having 6 so far, most of them in the 150-250k miles range before I switched up.

Seems like a good guy and takes care of his stuff. Been straight forward with me and seems like a good deal on the car other than having to worry about haldex failures and other common problems. He doesn’t seem too mechanically inclined and smart with stuff like that so all the work has been done by Audi so he goes based off what they say and tell him. It’s 2015 80k miles with a good amount of features listed for $11900
