WTB: Mint/excellent condition door cards in...what you think are black.

EDIT: Never mind, miscommunication in description of hues of Onyx vs Anthracite.

Came across a bit of info that's revealed that S4's don't have black interiors, they have Anthracite interiors (maybe there are true black interior out there). This can be revealed by placing a black shirt draped over your door card to reveal Anthracite which is ultra dark navy, as seen below.

Looking for all four in excellent condition, with the interior foam inlays, no broken legs, etc.. If you care to keep the belt trim that's fine, I just ask you properly take care, not setting the door card on concrete face down while it slides across the ground, ripping the rear foam in the process.

Many people are surprised to find out they don't have Onyx interior.

Clarification: I was told by a representative from Audi that all B5 S4’s and RS 4’s have Onyx colored dashboards, center consoles, and door cards (along with accompanying plastic trim, headliner, and carpet). The revelation here is that Onyx is NOT black (contrary to popular belief), and that NO Audi’s from the B5 generation of cars came with black interiors. This was of particular interest to me because so far as I can tell, ALL other Audi “S” and “RS” cars have black dashboards, consoles, and door cards by default, and it has always bugged me that my B5’s are Onyx and not black like Audi’s other “S” cars.

OP, as I mentioned in my PM, I am willing to send you an Onyx panel if you would be willing to do a side-by-side photo comparison to finally understand and document the differences between these two very dark blues; however, based on the image you provided, I am rather certain that you will find that Anthracite is very dark blue, while Onyx is a noticeably darker shade of blue. Onyx is so dark that it's almost challenging to get it to not look black in a photo, which is why it so often referred to as black.

For anyone out there thinking their B5 has a black interior: The steering wheel and shift knob in a B5 S4 are black. Hold an Onyx colored panel up right next to the steering wheel in direct sun light and the difference will be obvious.

What a coincidence that this was brought up today... I got a new trim pc in earlier today, along with a absolutely mint steering wheel. Side by side in my house with good lighting I was thinking, wtf this trim pc looks kinda blueish. Matches everything else in my car altho I don't see the deep blue outside(lil color blind anyways). Now it all makes sense.... Thanks for clarification.

Care to do the shirt test for us?

Drape a black shirt over a door card, snap a pic.

Audi S4 B5 in blue, as seen below:

My B5 has dark blue interior called Anthracite (A4 B5) and than there's also B5's that come with dark blue interior, and also blue interior.

The miscommunication was mixing up the lingo, and comparisons. Anthracite will look even more blue, this makes finding Anthracite parts a pita.

2000 Audi S4 with blue interior: Note the bezal or air vents, that's black, now compare the center console or dash to the real black parts.

And then getting into ~true real blues like this:

Only thing that's funny is how certain you sound about something you are wrong about. I would have thought you would know better given how many parts you sell.

Every B5 S4 has ONYX dashboard, center console, door cards, headliner, and carpet. Every official document from Audi says so, and Audi themselves confirmed this to me. Same color as the seats of any B5 S4 that doesn't have the "silver" leather seats (excluding the Alcantara inserts on sport package cars of course, but even those have Onyx bolsters and headrests).

Onyx is a color that Audi used as if it were black, and it is very easy to take a picture of it and have it look black. Under good lighting though it is plain to see that it is, in fact, a very, very dark blue.

Reason being is there is not true black dye. Its usually a really dark blue or green. You can even test it with a black marker. Put a mark on a paper towel then put a couple drops of water on it. You will see the green or blue bleed out that makes the black marker.

That makes a lot of sense Reggie. With exception to primary colors, all others r all made from other colors technically. There's a lot of different tones of black.
I definitly saw a light hint of blue in my living room and for a moment thought I'd recieved wrong pc. I still say it's black, not a dark blue.
Maybe some paint magician or graphic design artist could tell us what onyx color percentages actual consist of

What you guys are saying is absolutely true; but they can and do use leather and plastic dyes that wind up much closer to a true black than Onyx is, as evidenced even in the B5 S4 itself on the steering wheel, shift knob & boot.

I would consider the steering wheel, shift knob, and shift boot of a B5 S4 to be a "true" black color, as they are so dark that they effectively match the cap and/or tip of a black sharpie. These pieces are NOT Onyx.
The dashboard, center console, door cards, pillar trim, and seat leather (when not the white option) of a B5 S4 are all the color Audi calls Onyx, and if you compare any of these Onyx parts to the steering wheel or shifter in good lighting (direct sunlight is best) you will see that Onyx is clearly a dark blue, and the other stuff is as black as a sharpie.

Furthermore, as I stated above, every single other S and RS car in Audi's history that I have been able to verify so far have proper black interiors. By this I mean all the surfaces that are Onyx in a B5 are as dark as a sharpie in the other cars and match the steering wheel and shifter perfectly. This is true for cars both before the B5 (B4 S2 & RS2, C5 S4 & S6), as well as ones after (B7 S4 & RS4, B8 S4 & S5).

I do not know why the B5 was deprived of the proper black interior that all these other S and RS cars were blessed with; but it bothers me much more than it should.
I love the B5 S4 and plan on owning one for as long as I live, so someday I will be attempting to convert the interior of one of mine to proper black - I'll be sure to let Audizine know how that goes.

No need to let your fragile ego get the best of you, landfill. Everyone on this forum has seen that movie before.

If you don't want to do the mature thing and acknowledge that your earlier assertion was provably incorrect, there is always the option of saying nothing at all.
Instead you resort to name calling. Way to reveal your character.

Hah this took a dumb turn. It's still a black.
    Good bit info here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shades_of_black
Jet black is equal part RGB
Crayola actualy classifies onyx as a greenish black altho on the standardised color spectrum it has more blue, next to green, then red

So here's kinda a mind fuck, follow with me:

    - Black shirt brand new for contrast
    - Pure white template for contrast
    - Black battery cover for contrast
    - Onyx fuse cover
    - Anthracite fuse cover

Sunlight: Onyx does look navyish, not a navy as Anthracite to the right, but still navyish

Sunlight, again, but a different angle and now Onyx looks blacker:

Shade with flash: It kinda seems like Anthracite is blacker

Sunlight, in the vehicle, Anthracite (in the back) looks like it would closer match the black battery cover and looks blacker than Onyx, that kinda appears navyish

Shade again, now with out the flash, Onyx now looks black
