DSG Fluid Options

I'm about to order one of the DSG maintenance kits from ECS tuning and see that they have several options. One of them provides you with the genuine VW fluid (P/N G052529A2) and costs about $410 and one uses Liqui Moly 8100 Dual Clutch Gear Oil (P/N 20044) and costs about $210. Each of them also come with drain/fill plugs, cooling filter, trans filter, pan gasket and bolts.

What is the consensus on the preferred DSG fluid to use? I tried searching online for info and couldn't find much. I am willing to pay the almost twice as much for the kit with genuine VW fluid if it is recommended, but if they are pretty much the same then obviously I'd like to save a few bucks here.


Also, will I be okay doing this on ramps rather than jack stands? I see most of the DIY instructions mention having the car level. Will the few degrees from the ramps cause any issues for me?

I can’t comment on doing the job on jack stands, as I’ve only had my shop change mine. My car has around 134k on it. I believe the service is called
For every 30k on audis maintenance schedule. I used liquimoly kit and I made it around 20kish before I definitely needed it changed. Now I have OEM in there. But it’s fresh so I’m not really sure if it will make it to the 30k mark yet.

Most here will probably say go OEM. If you go liqui you may have to change it early? At least that was my experience.

Fcp euro has an OEM full service kit for $225 and a great return policy.

Ramps may show the incorrect fill level and you want to fill properly.

As stated above, most that I've read use non OEM fluid had issues with it after a while.

I had the exact same reflection, VW fluid or LiquiMoly DSG for half of the price. With our finicky dsg, all those potential circuit board and mechatronic issues, I decided to bite the bullet and go with the original fluid. Maybe it won’t change anything but I’m not taking any chance.

Use OE fluid. It’s not worth the risk to use anything aftermarket.

When I changed mine at 35 k miles, I changed both filters and put in Redline DCTF. Trans shifts beautifully, behaves perfectly. When I renew it at 70K I'll use exactly the same thing. Redline FTW.

^ This. Who knows, but I would kick myself, if I put aftermarket fluid in and began to have issues over a few hundred $.

FCP don’t sell genuine VW DSG oil, they only have Pentosin which the the OE oil used on BMW, Febi and LiquiMoly DTC oil. I am a fan of LiquiMoly and Motul engine oil, but when comes to our infamous DSG only VW/Audi dsg oil that goes in. Specially all the circuit board and wires are bathing in the oil.

I guess Febi is ok, but beware of the consequences if there are any😒

Never had any issues with the Liqui Moly 8100 DSG fluid. I'm on my second dsg change with it and never noticed anything wrong. 3rd dsg service will be using the same.

Original works better. I had both Original and Motul. Original car runs a bit smoother in my car even the way solenoids works and clutch feels better on OEM in my opinion.
