I put in Valvoline Max Life All Model ATF - 6spd auto

I have had my car in service position a handful of times replacing front seals, timing components, turbo, etc and each time, I lose a little fluid.

I just turned over 150k miles on this car and for a while I've had some hiccups in my shifting and some hard shifts as well as a bit of lag in my transmission.

Today I drained the pan and pumped fluid out of the lines to remove as much fluid as possible and replaced it with the Valvoline Maxlife ATF.

Transmission feels much tighter than before and it shifts without a hiccup.

Valvoline spec sheet states it is a suitable replacement for ZF lifeguard 8. This is a much cheaper alternative to the ZF at $30 for 3.78L and more easily locally available at Wal Mart, advance, autozone, etc.

Awesome! Let us know if you have any issues. It will most likely be fine I would think. We just do not have any examples as most people use the ZF.

I need to do mine soon but I'm not sure how many liters to order. Does anyone know how much fluid you get out when dropping the trans pan and replacing the filter on the 6AT?

It's recommended that you buy 9 quarts. On my last drain and refill I used 4, I would expect to double that when pulling the filter.

6 liters. Get 7 to be safe. While you are there you may as well change the front, center, and rear differential oils as well. See my video I show the whole process: https://youtu.be/IY_VRHlfJuQ

Awesome, thank you for the info and details. 2 years ago I did the front and rear diff, and drained the trans without removing the pan as I was afraid of removing the center mount. This year I want to drop the pan and change the filter too. Will do the center diff also.
