Engine swap from audi b7 2.0t to vw 1.8t

Hey got a audi b7 a4 2.0t and the motor is toast and the 2.0ts are very hard to come by where i live but there are lots of vw 1.8ts around so my question is would a 1.8t from a passat be an easy swap to do i realize i would likely need the wiring ecu cluster and key from the vw but do they bolt in the same and what about transmissions does the 1.8t share the same transmission as the 2.0t also how far back could i go for platform could i swap from a b5 platform to my b7 easy enough Any input would be great thanks.

Buy a 1.8t and get a harness and ecu from Europe. It’ll bolt right up at that point.

Whats the reson for the harness and ecu from europe would the harness not be the same from any 1.8t? And does platform matter for the 1 8t motor or are they all the same like say 1.8t from year 2000-2006 wouod they all bolt up the same?

You could get a B7 with a 1.8T in Europe. Any 06A 1.8T block should bolt up just fine since it’s the same basic block. 058 blocks may be different, I’m not sure.

    Where in Canada are you?

2L engine’s are not hard to find. You can pull them out of any Volkswagen with the same EA113. Or from any scrap audi. I had a spare last week.

Just tell me where you are, and I will find you an engine. I am in Ontario, and I do a lot of volume with parts.

You could get a harness from Europe, but even with the 1.8T, you’re going to need to get all of the accessories from a B6 A4.

I live on prince edward island there is no audi dealer on pei so not alot of parts available there is a vw dealer though but for some reason dont want much to do with audis local junkyard had 1 2.0t motor but it was shot as well so my best bet is looking for a 1.8t since there seems to be more around can likely get a whole running car for around 400 bux and just swap the electronics and motor

It’s a pretty simple matter to get the transverse 2.0 fsi to fit in a longitudinal chassis. It only requires swapping a few parts.

So a longitudinal from a 1.8t 4 motion passat would be the easiest swap should be able to just swap engines right?

No, a longitudinal 1.8T from a B6 A4 would be the easiest. But, you’ll still need an ECU and engine harness from a European 1.8T B7 A4.

Your LITERAL easiest swap is a 2.0t from an MK5 Golf/Jetta/Passat/Tiguan/EOS. Find a wrecked car, move your accessories over (all of them, including oil pump pick up and pan), and put that into your car. I’ve done this exact same thing and they’re identical engines. You need an EA113.

I even found one for you in PEI.

Thanks for finding that but i Called about that used 2.0t engine they want 2000$ for the engine bit out of my price range considering i could buy a whole car for 1500$ not quite sure what to do i can buy an 04 passat 1.8t whole running car for 400 dollars might look to see if i can find a 2.0t motor locally first though before tackling the bigger job

Yeah, look at any EA113 equipped VW. You’ll be able to find more of them and likely fairly cheap. The long block is the same; just swap accessories and oil pickup and pan.

This would be up on the list. It’s the same reason you see sleepers drop the 2.7t engine into the 4motion Passat
