    Coil pack advice.

Hello all. Was getting a p0303 code for the #3 cylinder. Went to swap it with another one to see if the code followed it, and this happened. I guess I found the problem. Haha. They are original with only 40k miles on them. All plugs look fine, as they should. They were changed under 10k miles ago. So I’m going to replace all 6 JIC

My ? Is I have a choice of Bosch or Bremi. The originals are Bremi. But I thought I’d ask the experts if one was better than the other ?

Thanks for the replies. Have a great week.

I don't know about Bosch vs. Bremi, but thanks for sharing the pics. Never saw the guts of these coils before.

Also, in the background I see the black flex tube has crumbled away from the coil pack harness at the rear of the valvecover. Probably wise to get something around those wires to protect them from cat heat. Good luck and thanks again.

Seriously? Your 3.0 has only 40K miles? Dang, mine is only 203,000 more than that.

    Coil pack advice.

Yes Sir. It had 18,500 when I got it 3 years ago. But never had a coil pack just break in half when I went to pull it out. Haha.

I hope mine goes as long a yours.

Bremi is fine. I've seen many break. Keep an extra in the trunk for when one inevitably fails.

Ok bummer but thanks for the advice. I’ll get an extra.

Good eyes. It was completely broken apart, so I took all that part off. Already have some more and plan on wrapping it back up. Thx.

Have you considered going Genuine? Not sure what brand that would be, but a little extra assurance goes a long way.

Bremi is the original coil packs. I just ordered them with matching part #’s from FCP Euro along with new plugs. Was just curious about Bosch. Only bummer is they won’t be here for 3 days with the weekend. So the car waits. But picked up a compression tester. Figured I’d check the cylinders for that as long as I’m switching them all out. Should run like a champ then 🤞

FWIW, it's usually recommended to run the compression test with the engine hot. (only mentioning because it sounds like you're planning to not drive the car, but perform a compression test anyways)

Thanks Metalman. I do plan on getting it up to temp before doing the test. Guess i wrote it wrong. Haha. Gonna recheck the connections and grounds with meter while I’m there.

There was a recall on the 3.0 cops...maybe 2013...not that it helps you now.

The oreilly import direct cop is a good part.

Eldor is the original manufacturer, I'd stick with those.

Bosch and Bremi seem to have a pretty less-than-satisfactory reputation around here as far as aftermarket coils go.
