Most comfortable seat that fits a B7?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Looking at buying either B7 S4 recaros, which are plug and play which is huge, or B8 S4 sport seats, which I understand would need work, but they are in a junkyard much closer to me. The main reason I want new seats is comfort on longer road trips. Any input is appreciated, thanks guys

S4 seats are not comfortable on long trips imo. But they will keep you in place during spirited

What you are asking is very subjective and everyone's idea of comfort is different.

haha this is true, about 99% of my non-car-enthousiast friends finding my car very uncomfortable, and I think is a very pleasant and comfy car to drive.

Depending of your size also, in my case im 6.0' 160lbs; OEM S4 b6-b7 seat over oem a4 B6-B7 seats are not a huge upgrade imo .They are very similar. Im not wide enough to enjoy the bolster support, but I do enjoy the leg seat extension tho.

My mom's B8 seats are way more comfy

she has those one. Bonus; most of the time they are cheap.

But, so far, if we forget old 91' oldsmobile cutlass supreme seat, the best seat I ever tried on a common car, are bmw s sport seat. Inflatable bolster are a genius thing. i wish I can retrofit this feature in my audi.

Standard B7 seats are perfectly comfortable for longer trips. Though, cram some 4M Q7 seats in there and now you're talking comfort. Vented and heated!

Top Tip, there is zero chance q7 seats will fit. Just being an idiot here.

I might be picky, but having a SX, RSX badge on my A4 seats, is something that would bother me. A bit like people putting ///M badge on base bmw 323...

but yes indeed, B8 s4 are very nice. Saw a guy last week owning a car wash , and someone never get back his cleaned full set of B8 S4s for 2 years+ , he doesnt know the value, and asked 400$ cad. They were in great shape. in that case I wouldn't mind the badge hahaha. but they were gone in a second.

Don't care one bit about that. Its not like putting an M badge on a non M car. That would be like people putting an s4(rs4) badge on their a4, totally dif in my opinion. But to each theit own opinion, I love em. Ya wouldn't bitch if they were wingbacks, lol.

The seats say S4 because they’re from an S4. In my mind that’s not much different from putting a brembo sticker on brembo brakes even though the car didn’t come with them.

Anyway regardless of comfort the B8 S4 seats near me really are stupid cheap, I don’t think I’d have a problem getting my money back if I hate them, gonna pull the trigger

So much more comfortable. The original seats suck for long drives. You will feel more planted in these but they do sit slightly higher.

Jay, any time you swap the passenger seat you have to set basic settings for the passenger seat occupancy sensor. Doesn’t matter if it’s your old seat going back in. If the seat goes in, it needs to be adapted.

You can find out how if you google. That’s how I found it when I put my RS4 seats in.

Picked up B8 S4 seats, all leather. $350 for 7.5/10 condition front seats. I think a killer deal compared to 500+ for B7 S4 seats, what do they usually go for?

Fronts only, id say $600-$700ish. I paid $850 for my full Alcantara set(F&R), condition is prob 9, except for 1 small hole in the webbing, where the leg section slides out on driver seat. Was a really good deal compared to others I seen on eBay.

Yeah just fronts. My back seats spend most of their life as a shelf for all the various things I use for work throughout the day, didn’t see much point in upgrading those.

I saw on YouTube that I just need to find B7 plugs at the junkyard and solder them on, and that all the wires match up to the B8 plugs. If anyone knows different let me know but otherwise I should be able to get these in tomorrow!

6-700 seems about what ive seen too, with 1k being near the top. ive thought pretty hard about it at times but i really dont mind the standard seats. passenger heater stopped working, but thats not my problem... alcantara seems nice but i wouldnt want to just get it dirty.. easy to clean the leather

I'm curious, did the B8 S4 ever offer a tan interior? I would love these seats but I'll have to convert over to a black interior...

Well, I just did mine. Yeas, I cut the wires, and used solder connectors to splice them on. All plugs match up(pin locations are the same) except the black seatbelt plug for pass side. Thats a little different. Was all in all pretty easy, just gotta reset my occupancy sensor to get tid of my airbag light. Think I'm gonna need to order a vcds cable finally. This is wht I went off of, for the most part.Screenshot_20210110-170900.jpg

Let me get this straight car weighs 3400 lbs from the store. Seats weigh 70 passengers 80 drivers. But for an additional $850 you can add another 20 lbs of leather and electrics? So you pay $450 for a tune to gain 20 lbs worth of power then spend double that to take it away?

You guys shud pull the carpet out. Pays for tune then loads trunk with dumbbells. Says he’ll get better mileage from a tuned car. Weighs just there to lower it.

Lol it’s not a race car it’s a car I drive every day. If I wanted weight savings I’d get sparcos or whatever. I’d rather be comfortable than save weight. And if I’m gonna shed 20 pounds from my car, the cheapest way to do it for my ass to lose 20 pounds lmao

thats like half a percent extra weight.. hopefully a tune adds more than .5% power or you should have just bought a 3rd seat with that $450

I weighed both my seats, cuz I knew someone would say thus, lol. All were the same, fronts are 60lbs/ea. Rear all same except for 60% backrest. The b8 has the ski bag, and mine didn't. B8 weighs 10lbs more. So i only added 10lbs overall, for much nicer, more comfortable seats.....mine are leather/alcantara.0115211354.jpg Not sure where you got thise #'s.

Boom! It’s so cold out doing all the soldering was a nightmare. My solder gun was barely powerful enough for the 2 thickest power wires for the motors, I may have to go back and redo those. Jay that pin out was super helpful thanks man

My Avant weighed 3700-something last time I went to the dump and drove onto the scale. B8 seats weigh less than you say. And even if they did weigh as much, we’re talking less than 1%, it’s a rounding error. Besides we never got b7s without leather/vinyl here in the US so not like we had the option of fabric. I don’t even think we had the option of manual seats, though I could be wrong. I know in my b6 the passenger seat was partly manual, but the drivers was fully electric. And my b7 is fully electric both sides.

I mean to each his own, I totally get the desire to make our cars less pig-ish. But seats and comfort are pretty damn important to me so I’d personally prioritize that over weight reduction. And I’d rather spend a few hundred shedding weight from the wheels or brakes than static weight in the cabin. I’ll never take my car to the drag strip so a tenth here or there isn’t relevant.

No problem man. Cold here too, so I brought all seats in basement, cut pkugs off b7, and wired into b8 seats. Then just bolted them in. I used those little self-soldering, marine type connectors that shrink and seal. Can't rem exact name, but worked great. Looks good man

Yeah, I was actually surprised they were the same weight. My pass side was also non-power, and still weighed the same. Both 59-60lbs.

It was all about the comfort and Oem+, not the weight for me.
For the ones that have done this swap, did you notice the heating element is much hotter then the B7 seats or am I just bugging?

B8 seats feel like they can cook food on the highest setting.

I am getting 3 fault codes while I try to reset the pass sensor.IMG_0625.JPG

I’m not able to do anything in basic settings, and doing the reset in adaption isn’t doing anything.

I didn’t swap the seat belt buckles or anything but the plugs when I installed, is this issue related to that, or did I maybe mis-wire something?

    Thanks all

Def hotter and heat faster. Just thought cuz mine are alcantara, and it heats quicker than leather. But guess not..

No module swap, is that the computer box under the seats? Was I supposed to swap it?
