I have this issue on another model Audi too. Works on and off (car fob battery changed to confirm it's new). Curious to see if anyone has any insight.

I had this issue on my old c6 a6, try scanning the driver door module with vagcom if you can, that will likely tell you what's wrong or at least give a hint

Had this issue with a dying battery a few weks ago. Had the oem battery installed until then.. almost 10 years lol.

I’d get that resting voltage checked.
Notice anything while starting? Like taking longer to crank?

Just had this issue today. All 4 doors and the trunk. They open if I press the FOB, but not if I have the FOB in my pocket.
    (2014, A6 TDI, Prestige)
I changed the FOB battery and tried again. no different.

haven't had a chance to scan yet! I have a garage project going on, car is in the driveway and its 20s with wind today!

Car battery was replaced about a month or 2 ago as a precaution. Car is a 2014 and battery was original.

going to follow along to see if anyone has suggestions.

Like a few others have said, scan for soft fault codes - you will likely have a ‘drivers door handle malfunction’ or something along those lines. Obviously check your battery too.

The typical root cause is a grounding issue and replacement is needed, or if you can find the ground fault.

This is actually a common problem with these handles on Audi models, that has been around for years. Do a google search to be enlightened.

I had this problem two years ago.

Right rear door sensor went out. $400 or so for thr dealer to replace and code.
