    Mechatronic repair post issue

    What’s going on.
So I had the mechatronic repair kit done which involved changing out the boards, 4 solenoids and some gaskets.
After the repair, we hooked up VCDS for the procedure regarding:
    - erase counter for start/stop processes. (Done)
    - clutch valve calibration (done)
    - distance sensor calibration (aborted: safety reasons).
We tried with the fluid temps between 58 Celsius and 65 Celsius. Doesn’t even try sometimes or it’ll say “running” then the error. No noises heard during process.

Goes into malfunction as soon as I put it into drive then comes up with 18003 “gear selector 2”.
Also weird, I’ll be in park and under status lever it’ll say I’m in “automatic gear 2”?

Any input? Codes would be erased before doing the steps
Also: can OBDeleven do these steps too?

    Does it drive at all?
Did you connect the mech unit back up correctly?

I'd be concerned that one or more of the gear selector 'forks' on the mechatronic unit was not aligned properly when installed.

This ^^^ would also explain your issue doing the distance cal, as that requires the trans to be in park, and if it's not reading that properly due to a misaligned gear selector fork(s) it won't run.

Do you have VAG-COM or obd11?

If you have VAG-COM, I'd go into the auto trans module and go to the adv measurement values option, and look at some of the output there, as far as which gear it's in, any readings that seem off or may be missing, and it may help you narrow down the source of the problem.

If it is the gear selector sensor, there's good news and potentially bad news. Could be as simple as re-aligning the forks, or if the unit got damaged or otherwise isn't working, a new one can be found for ~$200 online, and then obviously would need to be installed. I have heard of these modules dying or breaking when being serviced, especially on the older revision of the DSG, so maybe something to consider.

    Best of luck either way!

What was the fix for your issue? I think messed up the alignment of my gear forks re-installing my mechatronic. I got the P187B00 fault gear 2 engagement not successful. Tonight I'm about to take it all out again :'(

Start at page 948. It explains how to align the gear forks.

Thanks bro!!! I'm so mad at my self for not checking. Put a little endoscope cam up there and fork was sitting on the outside of hook. So bought some calipers measured the 32mm went right back in. Looked again with the camera all good. Did the vcds adaptation and problem seems fixed for day 1. If the fork were in alignment for the OP I would suggest changing the solenoid that pulls that gear and especially if the circuit boards were replaced.
