Dumb question - night vision assist

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My RS6 has night vision assist, which was working perfectly driving home after delivery. Had car in for full XPEL wrap and ceramic coating. Just drove it tonight for first time in dark since then, and night vision did not turn on. Had lights set to auto. Went into my MMI and the option is greyed out. As an aside, also noticed high beam assist was a little wonky.

I must be missing something— before I take it to dealer and ask a stupid question there, thoughts?

Take to the dealer and ask all the stupid questions you need. Thats what they're there for. Besides, the owners manual isn't very intuitive anyway. Even after reading mine a few times Im still left with questions at times.

Sounds like the camera could be obstructed, but in that case it should say so on the driver's display.

Yeah, I don’t see the indicator.

Surely they didn’t coat/wrap the cameras. On my Q7 the night vision camera was recessed into the Audi rings.

I don't think they did- it may just be a red herring.

Does the Night Vision automatically alert you to objects even if it's not selected view? As in, does the NV operate even if you're not viewing it? I haven't been able to try it out (or if I safely could) but it would be nice to know. Any ideas?

Well, I've only driven it once at night so far with it on, so I can't say from personal experience, but my understanding is that it will still alert you if a pedestrian walks in front of your path with a red signal in the heads up display.

ETA: Here is a good video demonstration. Have to FF to about 5:00 because we don't get the full matrix laser functionality of the headlights in the US (major bummer)

I think I figured out the issue, but I’m still confused by NV being greyed out and this pop up when I go into Driver Assistance:

It will alert you if it’s turned on even if it’s not the selected.
