2017 Audi S7 trunk opening issues

I just traded-in my '12 A7 on a '17 S7 and I noticed that I am unable to open the trunk using the button on the lid itself if the car is running. At first I thought that it was due to the fact that the MMI was set to unlock the driver side door only, which it was, but even after changing the setting to "all", I am still unable to access the trunk while the car is running; I can only open it via the button on the door. I also found a "trunk lockout" function in the MMI which I confirmed is disabled. I thought perhaps the button on the trunk lid had gone bad and I was planning to make an appointment to have it looked at, but I discovered that it works perfectly fine if the car isn't running. Is there a setting somewhere that I am overlooking?

Also, I am not sure if my vehicle is equipped with the feature or not, but I am unable to get the trunk to open contactlessly either, by sticking my foot underneath the bumper and moving it in and out. I tried with the engine off and on and I couldn't get that to work. My A7 did not have that feature either so perhaps that's normal but oddly enough the manual does reference it.

The valet mode in the glove box is push by accident?

I just went out and checked and I don't believe there is a valet button on this particular car, or of there is, it is not in the glove box. On my old A7 the button was on the CD changer, but the S7 doesn't have one.

My trunk behaves the same way as yours - I can only open it from the door switch when the vehicle is running.

Did you maybe use VCDS to allow your A7 to open the trunk from the trunk button while it’s running? A software modification like that is the only thing that comes to mind.

Regarding the contactless via foot sweep feature, I can only get it to work like 10% of the time, but I think a ‘17 S7 will probably have this feature. Is the key in your pocket when you try this?

That's wierd, my c7.5 S6 has it. Good luck in your searching.

Quick update - I can open the trunk with my foot when the car is not running, but I cannot close it with my foot, only using the button on the hatch - perhaps that's normal. I haven't tried with the engine running yet, but I will.

I looked again in the glove box and the only thing in it is the little AC vent. I do not have a CD-changer and I do not see a hidden valet button.

I also scrolled through the MMI and did not see a valet function; I also double checked that the trunk lockout is disabled and that the central locking is set to unlock everything.

If the engine is running I cannot open the trunk using the handle/button on the hatch still. So weird.

Car systems—> vehicle settings —-> central locking —-> lock exterior trunk handle —-> toggle to off.

It is already off but I can try off->on->off to see if that makes a difference

That seems to have solved the problem. I wonder if I need to do an MMI update.

Mine did the same thing. Had to toggle on then off. Glitch I guess. Mine is a 2013 S6

I hope you figure out your trunk issue... But what I really want to know is your comparison between the A7 and S7. Was the A7 stock?

I absolutely loved my A7 and with a stage 1 tune it felt very similar to the S7. I bought a pulley to go stage 2 but I never installed it. When comparing my Stg1 A7 to the S7, the S7 feels like it has a tad more torque, but the power comes later at higher RPM, while the A7 was very liner. That's to be expected though, supercharger vs. turbos. Aside from that, the suspension on the S7 is tighter and stiffer and the steering feels more direct. The biggest difference so far is that the S7 is much quieter and the hands-free microphone works much better The S7 with a tune is supposed to be a beast, but I unfortunately I don't want to void my warranty so that will have to wait for a while.
