Anyone running a separate oil cooler on their 3.0t?

When I was replacing my motor mounts, I had to remove the OEM cooler to get access. Given I hadn't planned on the removal, I didn't order a new seal. It's now developed a small leak.

I now have a new seal to put in, but have now found a Forge adapter plate....

Since I already have an extra 30 row oil cooler laying around, all I would need is a couple AN fittings and some lines.

Just curious if anyone is running a similar setup and if they like it.

I see you are in Phoenix so maybe more applicable down there, but are you having heat issues, or track the car a lot? I don't really see anyone having issues with oil temp or anything so likely just hasn't been a need to replace.

Not having issues, other than the leak from the bad seal. Definitely not tracking my old man sedan. Just making it fun to drive

In that case I wouldn't worry about swapping a different cooler, not much benefit to had if any.

were you able to get the driver's side motor mount out without dropping the subframe?

I’ve read, and maybe I’m wrong, but these engines run a hotter oil temp to help combat carbon build up more than they do already. I think that’s why most guys don’t do a bigger or extra oil cooler. Even those that track these cars haven’t reported issues. I looked into upgrading mine when it was leaking coolant, but my results said to stick with an OEM.

I thought normal oil temp in general was around 195 to 220, which is right where this engine runs. Not sure if that is higher than non DI models, but seems to be right on for what I see on the DIS.
