2021 S4 without Navigation. Can OBD11 unlock it?

A colleague just picked up the 2021 S4 and it is apparently available without navigation now but can be "bought" through the MMI and downloaded. Is there a way to unlock this through OBD11 possibly?

Probably not.. The new "features on demand" are probably provisioned the same way the AudiConnect services are, and it probably checks for a license.

I am not sure of unlocking the purchasing part. I think the purchasing is part of audi connect, which is a service.

In my endeavors to unlock the Virtual cockpit items. I have ran across threads of people adding it (navigation). Now I am not sure if they dont have nav to begin with. If the car is a 2021 as stated, it should have android play/car play which can show the nav inside the virtual cockpit via the phone without the need to add navigation from audi connect. Audi connect and nav components may be needed to add navigation (again dont hold me to this as I am not fully sure.),. The below method requires just obd11 and a phone to tether

Or another way would be to unlock the using wifi hotspot feature via obd11 and then use your phone to tether to your car to review the nav maps. But this requires reflashing the mmi if i am not mistaken.

Case in point Canadian cars has no audi connect.

This was a very interesting read. The first method of unlocking I posted above before this canadian thread, may require some hardware so I am not sure of that.

This will be available later this year for 2020 (a4,a5 family) and all 2021’s Premium Plus with no technology package. It is called Audi on demand where you can purchase the license software thought the MMI in the car.

The title to the thread literally says: Trick to run Waze (Android Auto) and Virtual Cockpit navigation at the same time

For what its worth -- my 2021 came with navigation, and will now happily display Audi's map in VC while navigating a route in Waze.. It would previously change it to the compass if Waze had an active route going on my 2018. To re-emphasize -- nothing changed with running CarPlay on the VC screen - it still only sits on the main MMI display. I haven't yet tried initiating a route in both at the same time

Anyone have any update on this.
I have a 2021 S4 without the Audi MMI Nav package.
But i would love to somehow get google map / earth or something similar to display in my virtual cockpit

No. CarPlay doesn't display anything in the VC screen. The MMI relays song title info from CarPlay to it - but that's about it. I'm not sure what wasn't clear about my last post -- "nothing changed with running CarPlay on the VC screen - it still only sits on the main MMI display"
Waze (and anything else from CarPlay) will only display on the MMI screen - not the VC.
