    S8 Exhaust Mods

Hey all, just picked up a 2015 S8 and need to add some growl to the exhaust without breaking the bank. What are the best options for "modding" the exhaust? X-Pipe to replace the front suitcase mufflers? Or just delete the rear mufflers? What's best?

I deleted my rear mufflers. There is a thread on AW that describes what goes on within S8 exhausts and they found that the center suitcase is merely a perforated pipe with no obstructions. With this knowledge I chopped the rear mufflers and can say that the exhaust sound is more pronounced - deeper but not raspy and zero drone at any speed. My favorite thing about the muffler delete is that the car now pops and bangs only in sport mode, but not in drive. One downside is that you can hear the cylinder activation more clearly when it kicks on. Otherwise I highly recommend it! I paid $300 to chop the mufflers, instal a "Y" on each side and to re-weld the stock tips back on in their original spots.

Thanks much for the input! If you could post some pictures and possibly a video clip that would be amazing!

Sure! I’ll post one tonight. Don’t have a picture but it’s just straight-piped where the mufflers used to be to the stock tips

Awesome! So did you keep the valves on the back? I plan on getting aftermarket tips so not sure if that will interfere or not.

Here’s the video with windows down. I kept the valves. The burbles and pops only come on in sport mode, and not with drive.

Thanks! I’ll try to get a picture when I’m back in town for you guys. The job cost me $300 at a generic exhaust shop. The price included two Y’s and four pipes to cover the muffler distance

Perfect and I’m glad you’ve found what you’ve wanted without paying those $5K plus prices.
