My wife and I have always had an affinity for SQ5s. A little over a year ago I was on the hunt for a B9 SQ5 and I could not find one in the spec and the color I wanted. I kind of gave up looking because there just wasn't any out there at the time. At the beginning of this year I placed an order for a 2020 Audi Exclusive TTRS and then just went on enjoying the hell out of my 2017 Sepang Blue Prestige SQ5.

It was pretty simple...drop in panel filter, lowered, spacers and an IE Stage 2 single pulley tune. It was great, I loved it and then somewhere along the way I decided I wanted another RS5. I found one in the spec that I wanted, the last one in the country actually. It was at Audi Richmond. Eventually we settled on numbers that I couldn't pass on and my wife, my oldest daughter and I packed up and drove my SQ5 across the country to trade it in and get my new RS5 Sportback.

I was all about my RS5 Sportback, I didn't even care about the TTRS that I had ordered that was somewhere in the Atlantic at the time. That was until it showed up in Colorado on July 30th. Our salesperson sent a quick text with pictures to my wife and I letting us know that it was here and it would be ready the next day.

I have to say that we were curious and excited but we had a lot to talk about since at that point we really had no intention of me getting the TTRS because I had just bought my RS5 Sportback 11 days earlier. What we were really thinking about was getting her an Exclusive Q8 they had that we saw and test drove at the beginning of the month right before we headed out to Indiana for the 4th with her SQ5 and our Airstream.

We had a big decision to make and an appointment at the dealer in about 24 hours. She wanted to trade in her 2019 SQ5 for the 2020 Q8 and I kind of wanted the TTRS, but the decision of which to get? We decided to get both...

Having both the TTRS and the RS5 along with my B6 Avant was great but it also created a redundancy problem. That became very apparent this October when my wife and I went away for a long weekend to Durango for our anniversary. We took my RS5, it was great and super fun on the way down and a blast to drive over the weekend. On the way back there were multiple 11,000'+ passes that we had to take during a winter storm. The snow and ice was interesting and it got progressively worse along the way back. That was when I really started wishing I had an SQ5 again. My old SQ winters was a beast in the snow.
As much as I loved my RS5, it started to feel like a compromise. It would never be as fast, as fun and engaging as my TTRS and it would never be as versatile, roomy and Colorado friendly as an SQ5. After a few days of pondering and even starting a thread in the RS5 section to try to get perspective, the hunt was on. I checked out a couple of local SQ5s to get a feel for the changes. I narrowed it down to wanting a District Green or preferably and Ultra Blue model. I wanted a Prestige model with everything to include dynamic steering, stepping away from my RS5 was a big change but I wanted to give the SQ5 every chance to be as close as possible. At the time there were no District Green Prestige models with Dynamic Steering in the country, so that narrowed it down to Ultra Blue. There were 27 prestige models in country, after adding in the options it was down to 4. My dealer was able to trade with Audi Naperville, they both have the same port so that made it really easy. It took about 4 or 5 days for it show up and be ready for delivery and that gave me time to pull a few things off my RS5.
My Ultra Blue SQ5, there are many like it but this one is mine...
Seeing it for the first time.

Going for quick drive while finance freed up.

Saying goodbye...

...and finally home

...and within a few minutes of getting home I had it in the garage with a wheel off to see if the 2nd set of RS5 wheels that I just got would work for winters. 20x9 why not?

Wheels were good to go, no clearance issues and with the stock RS5 black optic wheels being ET25 it was a pretty nice fitment even without spacers.
I was always a fan of Sepang Blue, unfortunately it wasn't offered and it isn't even on the approved Audi Exclusive colors for the SQ5, maybe the under paint to match. I think Ultra Blue is pretty close to Sepang but with just a hint more purple in it. I am not complaining, I really like it. The plan for last SQ5 before I decide to let it go was to go ape shit with it. I figured I might as well pick up where I left off or at least journey down a similar path...within tasteful reason of course. It will be my daily driver and it is brand new after all.
I have more to post, but I guess that is enough for an intro post. I still have more to add to bring this up to date but I am kind of hungry right now.
Sorry about being long winded at first, it is a process I guess.
