Video in motion help!?!

Hey guys I cannot get my dvds or usb to play while in motion. Does anyone have insight on this? I’m in a 2018 rs3

The only thing you can do is buy the obd11 dongle. I think the cutoff year was early 2018 when OBD11 stopped supporting it. Some people had limited success after that by opening the hood and programming but not 100%. I believe it depends on your MMI software version.

I have a 2018MY and VIM was only possible after an MMI software update and I used VCP to do it.

I have a 2018 as well. Wanted to make sure this really did work before laying down money for a VCP. OBD11 definitely did not work for me either.

I am going to stray away from VIM, due to me more likely to rear end someone, and I am serious.
Looked down to grab my thermos of coffee, and almost rear ended someone in such a really short time.
Cut the wheel real fast to avoid the impact, missed the SUV.
But, a curb fudged up my right front suspension completely (19 TTRS was immaculate prior to incident), which is currently at $10,800 worth in damages, so far. IDK what is the fate of the car, even if it is repaired perfectly. No chassis damage btw, so they say. I will get a second shop to confirm, but i digress. I recently started lurking here (used to be here a lot), due to having owed a FS 2018 RS3 almost fully loaded, minus ceramics brakes, carbon engine cover and IM. Plus, there is more activity here than the MK3 TT section.

If it’s the same product AND if it works....VIM might be achievable via plug and play.

Just sharing the research thus far....untested...but I might give it a try.

No but you can use AA mirror if you have an Android. That will mirror your phone screen to the cars screen.

I have VIM enabled on my MMMI on my 2018 RS3. I can only watch a DVD so can't stream anything from my iPhone or mirror the screen. There is a guy on Facebook that can do it but not sure its worth it. I thought i would be able to mirror my phone but only good for DVDs. PM me if you want the details.

I have a 2019 and it work fine, You need to open the hood while injecting VIN from OBDII then it should work. Plus you need to format your Video to a certain resolution. I use handbreak ill upload the config file here when i find it on my PC.
