Has anyone retrofit the new B9.5 touchscreen to the pre-facelift B9?

I was wondering if anyone on here and fit the new B9.5 touchscreen display (not the MMI) to the pre-facelift.

I've seen a couple of people do it on facebook but they all seem to have gone MIA when asked about it.

I was wondering if there were any guidance on installing one - I know the touchscreen wouldn't work but it would be nice to change the screen over.

That sounds like something Yaode Chain would be all over. I don't think he has tried though. A4 but dude is on it.

I did something very similar to this on my b8, where I retro fit the 3G+ MMI from the B8.5 to my B8 to get access to Google Earth and the like. Was super useful and had my Audi tech's asking me all sorts of questions.

Super interested in this as well for my B9. Would be nice if we could retro fit the entire MMI but I'd be happy with the touch screen alone. Its amazing how many finger prints my non-touchscreen has, everyone just assumes its a touch screen and stabs it with their oily fingers

It would be great to have new UI and touch screen, but also keep MMI knob for controls. Like to have best of 2 worlds.
There is already kit to have bigger touch screen, but system remains the same.

I seen someone post the retrofit on Facebook. They updated the MMI and the dashboard with the new models. There was some tricks to it and required replacing a lot of wiring. Tried to find it quickly to share but couldn't. Will look for it again later.

Ah they replaced the entire MMI? Bummer, I thought they were able to keep the current gen one. That makes it a lot more complicated haha.

Yeah I would like to keep Gen 1, with just a bigger screen/higher resolution.

I messaged Yadoechain and he said he not going to do it as he doesn’t like the new Gen dash display.
Sounds like he would know how to do it cause he said if I wanted to do it he would help me.

So definitely possible as per the following links. Yaode also confirmed it's possible, you just won't get the touchscreen working. No coding is required.

Haha yes I was messaging him as well ..he very helpful. You are correct no touchscreen and it’s plug and play no coding required as your keeping your B9 layout.

I'm curious to see how the resolution and clarity will turn out seeing as though it's being upscaled. I guess it will be an expensive experiment to try out lol.

Is there any way to backdate the interface to have the dial and buttons? I prefer not having to touch my screen at all.

Only way to not have the touch screen feature and keep dial and buttons is to keep the same B9 layout. Basically just upgrading the screen no the new layout.

Which is the way I would go with as I still like the old layout.

I think screen size and resolution is worth the upgrade alone. It’s a plug and play if you go this route....I believe this is more wires etc involved if you want to upgrade to the new B9.5 layout.

If you replace the MMI, VC, Dashboard, Screen, centre console, sure. Going to cost a good few grand.

If you all want to wait a month or two, I'll get it and let you know how it turns out. Currently looking at getting a bespoke WMI kit and engine build, but after that I'll finally do the screen lol.

I've already spoken to him yeah, I'll be ordering it through him when it comes time.

I might end up doing it sooner since the UK is in lockdown again starting today, which might delay the plans for the engine build.

The sooner the better for me lol ...really want to see how the quality is (maps and menu) and how easy the install will be.

Yeah, I'll let you know.

Install shouldn't be too difficult, just super tedious to remove the dashboard. Probably a few hours tops to get it all done and dusted.

Oh absolutely! Next for me is a drop, wheels and rs4 grille. Yeah please let us know kn any updates and if you can do an install guide that would be killer!

Hi mate,

Yes it's possible to retrofit the MIB3 touchscreen in Audi b9 . I done this retrofit for a customer. The MIB3 need to be ONLY from q3 2020 up , harness, the 10" screen its original one from A4,A5 b9,5 . Cp remove and proper coding .

Why not get an RSnav unit ?
Larger screen and the option of the B9.5 interface or the older B9 interface
Touchscreen
And only costs $650
I'm planning to get one
