    Spark Plugs post tune

What plugs is everybody who has gone Stage 1 running? I'm running an IE Stage 1 on 93 octane and still have my stock plugs. Coming up on 50K miles so I was going to change when I do my brakes in January. Already purchased NGK plugs (linked below) but wondering if these are gapped properly for stage 1. Saw a pinned bulletin on the IE FB consumer page mentioning a different gap for 3.0 TFSI Supercharged on Stage 1 tunes. I also can't tell from their product pages what these are gapped at.

No real issues with ignition running OEM I've found, just want to make sure I'm running the correct stuff going forward.

I've reached out to IE support. They sent me this plug and recommend a .028 gapping for stage 1 tunes.
    https://www.ngk.com/ngk-2668-bkr8eix...-ix-spark-plug

What's hilarious is that their datasheet for this plug is listed as a .032 gap. However, an Amazon review of this plug has a user actually measuring it as .028, so they literally have their own specs wrong on their website. After bringing that up with IE their response is essentially "use that plug, there's a typo online."

Audi SQ5 is not listed as compatible but that's understandable as the car is no longer running within stock parameters. Hopefully this thread helps somebody else in the future.

I have a set of those, and they were definitely around .032 when I got them and needed to be gapped down. I'm sure there is some variability in there but likely more measurement error. You need to use the wire measuring tool or some feelers gauges. The little round ones with a slope on them are just not accurate.

I just did mine about a hundred miles ago, this is from Chris at EPL: We recommend the NGK PFR8S8EG plugs gapped down to .026" and replaced every 25k miles or less.

Those plugs are allegedly gapped to .032 from the factory, mine varied from .032 to .036.

Chris is right. Stock NGK platinum gapped to .026". Higher boost does shorten plug life, so 25k miles or less is the change interval.

I'm trying NGK's iridium plug equivalent to see if it lasts a bit longer.

    BKR8EIX # 2668

Iridium is both harder than platinum and has a much higher melting point. This is a fine wire tip, so you must be careful not to scrape it when regapping. Also, this plug, while a direct cross-reference number for PFR8S8EG, is technically an original equipment motorcycle plug! So, don't be surprised if it comes up that way in the charts.

It is performing great. Zero misfires at about 20 psi boost, stage 2 dual pulley 93 octane. Time will tell as to whether it will extend plug life. I was getting only 15K on the platinum.

Checking to see how these plugs worked out for you? I just bought the 2669 (BKR9EIX). I haven't installed them yet, but wanted to give them a shot.

Still doing fine. No misfires. Have about 20,000 miles on them. I did pull them recently when doing routine maintenance. Looked normal and needed no regapping. I usually check plugs during an oil change just to inspect for coolant from supercharger cores (none) and to check gap. I see no reason, zero reason to go step colder though. Try the 9s, but don't be surprised if they foul in daily driving.

Yeah honestly I ordered them by mistake. I might return them and the 8s, but figured since I had them I’d give them a shot.

I have my previous set of plugs still (OE NGK) with about 8K on them I can always use if these poop out.

Give them a try, I guess. Some tuners recommend heat range 9 for dual pulley so give them a try. If you are pulling timing it might help. Gap tight, at least .026" if not a bit tighter and try. If they foul in city driving, pop the 8 range back in.

Did you gap to 0.026 or 0.028"?
